There's an old fan made manga that does just this. Bardock convinces King Vegeta, Frieza is going to kill them all. Rather than being a blind idiot, the King listens. They then plan an attack on Frieza and the entire Saiyan army turns great ape, and just destroys Frieza in one giant beautiful blast of death.

Saiyans are essentially an entire species of Lesser gods, similarly to the namekians. They have the capacity to grow and outperform any being in existence with the proper mix of training and technique.

There was a popular fan manga that showed what would happen if Bardock got the sayains to rebel with him and plan it. Several of them around that 10, 000 power level range waited for Freeza's ship to arrive, sent a couple of sabotagers to the ship, and then used the artificial moon to transform. 10 beams of 100, 000 power level shits slam into Freeza's ship before he can transform, ending Freeza, Zarbon, and Didoria.

Freeza picked the right time to wipe them out.

Actually Goku mindset was the key for him becoming so powerful for a low class, and changing Vegeta too. Vegeta was too realistic, when he saw a threat like Gnyu forces or Freeza he used to rrun away but Goku will power showed him the true power of Sayans: hard trainning and never stop fighting. Vegeta teaming up with Goku and Kulilin was the moment he "started to be like Goku"

Another thing is that the Ozaru's biggest weakness, that being a necessity for the moon to be out to transform into one, was counteracted by the invention of the 'power ball' technique. While as we see it in the show, it is taxing on the user, remember that one Saiyan could use technique, and every other Saiyan could benefit from it.

It also helped that every saiyan from the elite to the lowest ranked were extremely capable fighters. Raditz, who had an abysmal power level, I think could pretty easily take on all Frieza's regular soldiers(on Namek) who were supposedly all around his power level.

Zenkai hacks alone make saiyans a pretty op race, let alone all of the transformations.

While this might be filler, at the start of the war between the Saiyans and Tuffles, the Tuffles were successfully stalemating them until the moon came out, then it became a blood bath. Transformations, zenkais, and rapid development are what made saiyans one of the deadliest species in the universe rather than their initially decently powerful base form.

Keep in mind if Nappa was still around, He'd powerful enough to keep up with some of Frieza's strongest men if he transformed as well with a PL of over 40, 000. And after Earth he'd only be even stronger.
