Here some answers for everyone: Getting them on doesn’t hurt at all. Some parts may be just a bit gross. Afterwords, about 2 hours later, you will feel some pain. The first and second day are the worst, your teeth are still getting used to them, so it may be painful. Drink Milkshakes, ice cream, soup, and other soft foods. About a week later you will be back to your normal self. You will be able to eat normally, and will feel much better.

I'm just glad I can eat more ice cream.

Braces is a great excuse to eat 3 tubs of ice cream a day! worth it.

I like how I can relate to all the things mentioned. The ones who will be getting braces do not worry it won't hurt when it is being placed but a few hours later you may get irritated and feel uncomfortable and get bruises and cuts. but eating soft food will help. After a week or so you will get used to it. Trust this 12 yr old girl.

I've had braces for a bit more than 2 years. At the first 5-6 months I didn't experience any pain at all. But after, every time I left from the dentist, I couldn't eat BREAD. The one for toast. RAW bread. My teeth hurt so much. But it's just for 2-4 days, after the pain goes away.

I can tell you right now that while you are getting your braces put on, the most uncomfortable thing will probably be putting the colored rubber bands onto your brackets. It will feel really tight and unpleasant. I may add that your lips will probably get really dry.

Y’all, don’t be scared. Braces are not painful while getting them on. They might be a little sore when you get them own, but after a few days it should feel normal. If you have questions ask my in the reply’s.

I've had braces for 2 years, but I just got them readjusted like 2 days ago. I had a MASSIVE overbite and my jaws were misaligned, so when I closed my mouth the teeth on my bottom jaw cut into the roof of my mouth. This was fixed by a Herbst appliance, which brought my bottom jaw forwards and coincidentally made my jawline 10 times better. When you first get the braces, the first thing you notice is just the fact that there's so much metal in ur mouth. I remember for the first 2 weeks or so the inside of my mouth was completely sore from cuts and scrapes, which take forever to heal. In terms of the like adjustment pain, it basically feels like someone grabbed your teeth between their thumb and pointer finger and started bending it. It's not really like a sharp pain, it's more of like a light dull throbbing pain. I remember feeling blood rushing through my gums with my heartbeat. I HIGHLY recommend taking an Advil or ibuprofen or tylenol the second you get home, and taking one or two everyday in the morning for the next week or so or until the pain's better. It's probably partly placebo, but I've found it helps a lot and you don't really notice the pain at all. Chewing on things is still gonna be impossible, but at least your teeth won't be aching all the time. The only other pain I can think of is sometimes if they keep my mouth open for a like a really long time to do stuff in my mouth, a incredibly sharp and severe pain comes in my jaw whenever I talk or open my mouth. This pain went away after a few hours tho. If you have like really bad teeth or you can't eat or talk properly because of them, or they look really bad, I'd 100% recommend getting braces or invisalign, but if you only have like 1 or 2 canines that are a tiny bit bucked I honestly don't think it's worth it. Good luck!

I just got my braces a few days ago. To anyone who is worried if it will pain, it won't. It just takes time and those mouth retractors are uncomfortable. That's all. I hope it helps.
Edit: You will have difficulty eating at first too.

To summarize this video,
*No bracees do not hurt, if you have frail teeth it might hurt a bit but NO it does not at all hurt!*
*Yes after the first week or to it'll be sorta sore.*

For anyone who’s anxious (to get braces) because of the comments down here, I would say that I got mine today and trust me they don’t hurt at all. They’re just exerting a little pressure which exacerbates when you bite or chew. This isn’t UNbearable
Edit: ok, I admit they do hurt ouchh

Having braces is like a nightmare! I remember the first time I wore, I have been restricted from eating all kinds of hard foods. Which I missed a lot. One thing that I learned during my braces period is that, never dislike any food because the food you disliked will be first thing you’ll be craving for the most, when you never get the chance to eat. It might not sound like at big deal. But trust me on this, it will be worse than you think.
