Great review!
Thankfully, Framework addressed most of the issues you pointed out: A more sturdy hinge, a more robust top shell, a matte screen and a denser battery. The best thing is that all of these ate available on their website as parts so you can replace them on your current laptop (no need to buy a new model).
That's what I love about Framework!

There is a 4.0kg hinge version to buy from framework which increases the force to keep the lid angle stationary on the go and in bumpier environments, but trading off the easy one-hand-opening.

It's awesome that most weaknesses mentioned can be fixed by replacement parts now. I know there are better and cheaper options out there but I'll definitely get a Framework laptop because it's good enough and I want to support it.

Would be nice to see a module with 2 USB connections in one! I think you'll like the changes Framework have announced recently.

Thanks for this review.

I have never seen/noticed a timeout for keyboard backlights until I noticed it on my Lenovo Flex. I didn't notice it until over a year had passed because I don't use them that much, but when I did notice it, it was VERY frustrating. I can say that when I want the backlight on, it is SUPER annoying having it turn off automatically (auto time-out). I don't use my laptop in the dark that much but when I do, I want to be able to see which key i'm hitting BEFORE I hit it. If I'm watching a movie, I just turn it off as that is very easy to do. If I'm using it, I want to be in control of it, not some engineer who isn't there and doesn't know my use case. Without the ability to turn off the auto time-out like it is on the Lenovo, this is just a horrible feature. The ideal would be for a laptop manufacturer to create the option and give the option to the user to adjust (auto on/off, delay time, etc). Just my two cents worth.
Thanks again!

A great review, imho.
Concise, thorough (but not too thorough), short and charming.
Thank you for this.

U can upgrade the screen to a matte one.

I rather the keyboard not dim by itself. You can dim it if you're watching a movie of you want, it's over an hour entertainment and 2 seconds activity to dim it. Meanwhile if it always does the dimming it would get on my nerves. Plus the arrow keys... That's the worst way to make them. You use up and down much more than left and right, yet they're the smallest. Thankfully I'm getting the 16 with the all rgb keys and macro pad

I wish the Display can do 360 flip to back, have Tough Screen, and Anti-glade.

Since the age of the Ultrabook began, I have not seen a single laptop where the keys don't come into contact with the screen when it's closed. Not from Apple, or Dell, or Asus, or even the obscure GPD Win max that I'm currently using. It is singly the most annoying thing about this age, but at this point I kind of accept it's par for the course. I feel like matte screens are worse for clarity, but better for smudging-- it's a tough sell.

Great video! It's unfortunate but I feel that nobody can compete with Apple right now in the laptop market from a raw hardware perspective. I love the ideology behind the Framework but I can't afford to drop a grand on something that isn't the best I can buy for the price, and the battery life issues with seemingly all other laptops really sour things even more. Lets hope Framework can change that in the coming years!

I just wish the alloy wasn’t as fragile as a macbook.

Where is the hardware from? Is it Chinese build? The repair'ability' is nice, but with what kind of components? I would like to replace my hardware with 'Made in Europe' counterparts.
