We have experimented with quite a few combinations. We have done strawberries and chocolate cake mix, mixed berries with white, apples with spice cake mix, we used butter pecan cake mix with peaches. Our favorite is blueberries with lemon cake mix. They are all so good!

I like to melt the butter mix in a bowl with the cake mix and then put that on top of fruit. Yeah it's a extra step but I like the way the top comes out with no powdery chunks.

TIP #1...Freeze that stick of butter and grate on the large shred of your box grater and sprinkle over the cake mix.
TIP #2...Sift your cake mix instead of just sprinkling it around this way the clumps don't make it to the dessert.

I like blueberry pie filling (2 cans) with 1/2 box of yellow cake mix, 1 cup chopped pecans and 1 stick of real butter, sliced in half lengthwise and then cut in pats and put all over the cake mix. Delish.

My wife has been making BOTH of these for years, to my delight!
Only addition is she sprinkles cinnamon (or maybe cinnamon-sugar) on the peach dump cake.
Both are to die for!

When I make the peach dump cake, I add a little almond extract to the peaches while it’s in the can so I can mix it well. It really add some flavor. My family likes sliced almonds on top too, which I add if I have any.

I love Ree. Many others on the Food Network would be too snooty to admit they like something as humble or low brow as these Dump Cakes, but not Ree. She is so unpretentious.

I plan on making these for Christmas this year. What I'd change is adding some cinnamon and nutmeg and vanilla to the peaches. I'm also using sweetened condensed milk

with peaches you need some spices like cinnamon and a bit of nutmeg, stir in some brown sugar then put the cake mix on and melt yr butter. i put slices on one i made when i first started and it was just white cake mix sitting there. melt and drizzle that butter on the top of yr cake mix.

I've never made the cherry pineapple one. I will have to give it a try. It sounds delicious. However, for the peach one, I have to spice up my peaches. I add cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice to my peaches and cook them on the stove for about 5 minutes to make sure that the spices are well mixed and then follow the recipe like Ree for the rest.

My Girl Scouts make this during every camping trip, either made in oven if available or over fire in cast iron dutch oven. Their favorites are cherry with chocolate cake or apple with spice cake. Yummy!
