In the dump cakes defense, they’re fantastic to make on a camping trip over a fire. Super easy, so you can focus on who you’re with, and depending on the cake and fruit combo, they’re surprisingly delicious

My Dad was completely blind. Dump cakes were his specialty. He would also make this mangled french toast that set off the smoke alarm so often that I named it Four Alarm French Toast. Sooo delicious. RIH, Dad.

we always just called this camping cobbler, we did it with 2 cans of peaches, 2 boxes of yellow cake mix, butter, and a can of sprite in a dutch oven. it might be lazy, but it's great when you're out in the woods.

Fun fact: boxed cake mixes actually sold better when they started making them so that people had to add things like milk and eggs because people felt more engaged with the process.

I've been making a version of this my entire life using my grandmother s recipe. She used a can of crushed pineapple and a can of pie cherries. I always used a lemon cake mix and added coconut flakes after the butter. My dada would take it to work for pot lucks and several times came home saying that I had marriage request s. Lol I was 15 at the time
