Western blotting technique | principle and step by step procedure

Western blotting principle - This lecture explains about the western blotting technique step by step procedure. Western blotting or western blot is a molecular detection technique to identify the presence of protein in a cellular extract or sample of mixture of proteins using the separation of proteins by SDS PAGE followed by the transfer of the protein gel into a nylon filter Membrane. Then the target protein is visualized by the treatment with horse radish peroxidase or with any radioactive isotope to find out the presence of target protein in the blot. Western blot is very sensitive that it can detect even nano gram of protein sample. This technique is also known as immunoblotting technique as it uses Antibody as a probe to bind to the target protein in the blot.
