Simply the difference between China and India. India's Jewish(The Cochin Jews, North Eastern Jews, Kalyan Jews) community predates them to almost a 1000 years. But they were well protected by both the central and state government. After the re establishment of the State of Israel, they were sent to Israel according to their wish by the government of India. I still see documentaries of people who settled back in Israel, where they miss India and are still Indians in heart. Similarly the Syriac Thomasine Christianity of Kerala and the Thomasine Christianity of Pakistan was welcomed by the rulers of India and protected (eventhough presently in Pakistan Thomasine Chrisrians face threats everyday).

As an Indian Syrian Christian, I thank the good Lord for allowing me to be born in India and not China !!

I am an Israeli Jew whose parents were born in Shanghai (in 1920 and 1925, under British rule). (About 100 years ago, half the Iraqi Jewish population emigrated from Iraq to escape pogroms, and settled in India and in Shanghai, China.) My parents left China to the US when Mao Tse-Tung took over in 1949. They and my whole extended family were treated very well by the Chinese (and the ruling British). I am very sorry to learn of the persecution of today's Chinese Jews. Thank you for bringing this up to people's attention. Israel does need to step up and diplomatically protest their mistreatment and, if possible, accept them here in Israel.
