How To Delete Photos From iPhone, But Not iCloud

This makes no sense. “Use Google Photos” so what is the point of iCloud exactly?!?

I'd like to clear up the space on my phone, so the first part makes sense... but I'd still like to sync future photos to both iCloud and Google Photos... what happens if you turn sync back on after deleting the phone originals?

Surely there is a way to just delete the photos from your device and only stream them from icloud? Kind of like google photos does?

Sadly I have to agree with other commenters, this doesn’t quite make sense… or maybe it’s just lacking more details and information.
1. Explain WHAT sending to google DOES FOR apple photos ON the device?
2. Am I supposed to DELETE apple photos ONCE in GOOGLE?
3. Do google photos get saved into a “cloud” of some sort?
4. Will the google PHOTOS app take up even more space from device storage? Does it get saved to iCloud?
5. How does this change my apple iCloud storage? Will it delete the MOVED photos?

I followed these steps and now the photos are gone from my google photos. Nothing is in my deleted or trash folder. Idk what to do. Please help!

Theres 1000 videos over this but none showing us how to make sure photos will be deleted from your Iphone at the same time you delete them from Icloud so you don't have to go back and forth. I'd rather files be deleted from my phone if I am deleting them from my Icloud account online. This used to work and then for no reason it just stopped syncing.

I am no techie I am just worried I will delete everything never to be seen again. I have trips to the UK I am from the USA. Got confused when you went to the google app. I need to free space to my iWatch to continue my workouts. I am. Lost 10 gigs instantly when I did that and I selected to delete the optimized versions so that’s cool… going to turn upload back on pull everything onto a thumb drive from the cloud the. Wipe the cloud and hard wipe my phone … so much for Christmas photos I even upgraded to 2 gigs but no Christmas photos this year I guess…

I have many photos in my gallery in my iphone 10 but I also have photos in albums so that I can look back at them or show them to friends. I want to delete most photos from my gallery (I have 7, 000) but when I do that it also deletes photos in my albums. I want to keep those photos in the albums and delete them from my gallery to make room in storage. Whenever I do that icloud says it will delete all photos from all my devices which includes my home computer and I don't want that. I want to keep those photos. I bought The PhotoStick thing and I downloaded them there as a backup storage. I still want to keep photos in my gallery on my home computer so that I don't have to go to PhotoStick and find what I'm looing for. So how do I delete photos from my galleries in my phone and home computer without losing them like icloud says they will all be deleted (even the duplicates. I have duplicates when I make improvements and want to look back at the old ones) on all my devices?

I will never understand why Apple has chosen such an insanely convoluted and beyond confusing way to manage photos. I just want to be able to transfer to my mac, and delete the library from my phone. Why is it a ten step process?

I did this and nothing was deleted "all photos will be deleted but saved in icloud" litterally all my photos are still there.
