the second one i absolutely agree with. for me, TTMIK was very hard for me to understand, and i only used it to learn one grammar structure. then i found the wonderful world of HTSK, and i made more progress in a week than i did in a month with ttmik!

I love the drops language app BUT drops uses a streak-system and I sometimes need a break for a few days. I have two little kids and I am sometimes too tired for even just 5 minutes and it really pressures me to keep the streak up. I had a really long streak and then I missed 2 days and all was lost. That was really annoying. // Love textbooks as well❤

it's like going to language school that pushes us to follow the format and then go to the next topic immediately without giving us an ample amount of time to process the current one

Excellent advice, however i find the books too slow to go through. Ive been learning thai for about a year now so i can read and speak a little. I would say that if i picked up benjawan poomsekers famous orange book (learning thai for beginners) i could understand most of the words in there. Ive just been lazily listening and using glossika and reading dialogues and short stories, interactons with natives daily helps since i live here . Still going at slow progres but i would say its sustainable enough. Would love to watch if you made an update on thai keep up with it its a beautiful language.

Textbooks are the absolute best way to learn a language and with our technology we can get free pdfs online as well!

I always use the app then after a workbook to solidify what I just learned. If I'm still on roll I'll also review my notes of the app lesson. I think think it's ever food to just use an app only to learn. Having detailed explanations from the books are so helpful and really helps my understanding.

one benefit of the apps over books is that you can listen to the language as you are working. I love books too. But I am B1 in French and my listening skills are bad because all we did in university is study from a book. I can read in french, but try to have a conversation with me... and I have no idea what you are saying. I've already created sounds for the words in my head for words I didn't know. It's a battle.

I’ve been studying Portuguese for 9 years now and I’ve visited Brasil 18 times but I still can’t read or converse and I have to translate everything into English to understand. I practice every day with my girlfriend who only speaks Portuguese and we’ve been practicing for 6 years now but I still can’t understand her. I need to find a way to learn without translating everything.

Hello, how are you? I am using a translator until I write this letter. I am an Arab for more than four years. I am trying to learn the English language, but I am standing in the middle of the road because I do not find any progress. I want advice from you to learn the English language and then other languages.

Thx
