I am a born again Christian suffering from what looks like depression. I do also have suicidal thoughts but my faith in God keeps me from acting on them. This is encouraging; thank you.

My dad was a Christian scholar and an extremely strong believer but he had severe depression. Don't let people tell you you're doing something wrong with your faith just because you have mental illness.

If I had a penny for everytime I was told I didn't have enough faith. Thank you for giving me a new perspective.

"Depression is the expression of a heart that is seeing accurately that this world is not the way that it should be."

This blessed me

David is one that always springs to mind. He had depression; you can see this in the Psalms. But he always ended up focused on the Lord, and I love that you discussed this concept. “The joy of the Lord is our strength.” He didn’t promise an easy life, but He did promise His Spirit and His peace. ❤️

This is the most salient response to Christian depression I have ever heard. I’ve had a suspicion for a long time that being happy and positive every single day after being saved is just not accurate. That hasn’t been my experience at all. While I love the Lord and trust that He will prevail over this world, living in this world as it stands currently can be overwhelming and depressing. For a long time, I believed my depression was a sign that I was falling away from God, simply because I wasn’t going out everyday with a smile and singing Christian songs in the street. This explanation makes absolute sense and is encouraging to me. I can see now that depression is almost inevitable if you can truly see the stark difference between what we know about the future with God and what we’re living with every day in the world.

I used to attend a church where there were a lot of people who lived very comfortably, had amazing lifestyles, and lived without a care in the world. That was not my experience. I wonder how many Christians who claim to live depression-free are simply hiding behind a lavish lifestyle that insulates them from the reality of a truly broken world.

I believe christians are often depressed, because we sense evil everywhere.. evil we can not change.

This is what I needed today. SO blessed that this came up in my feed. 64-years-old and have battled depression and anxiety since I was a little kid. Dealing with suicidal ideation, but would never actually take my own life. My house is a mess, I've packed on a bunch of pounds, and I rarely have any energy. Haven't been to church in months. Trying to break out of the cycle, but am not having much success. THANK YOU for addressing this! My love and prayers are going out to everyone who's suffering. Bless ALL of you, and hold fast to God's promises!

The promise: "the Lord is my light" is most precious from a place of darkness.

Thank you for this video.

I thought this video did a fantastic job of describing the reality of living in a broken world--one that knows and fully understands a future glory and redemption, yes; but being held in limbo until awaiting a perfect eternity.

Thank you soooo much for this clarification. I have lost the pleasure of doing things I usually love the most, I cry a lot, I have mood swings and being in service at Church I felt guilty abt my condition, until this vid where the concepts of joy and hope and depression have been cleared out. Thank you. Be blessed!

Ty this helped me so much. Struggled for 30+ years with depression. I know God wins, its just hard to be surrounded by so much ugliness. I will finish the race. I will keep the faith.
