Great analysis. You really capture how simple the story is and deceptively complex. I must be cold-hearted b/c I was still worried about the money as the car was sinking...

The money (and the car it's in) is recovered at the very end of the movie. Hitchcock used black and white because in those days it was cheaper; he used his TV series crew because it was more economical also.
