Quitting Nicotine Cold Turkey

On March 3, 2020 I quit nicotine cold turkey. I had quit smoking cigarettes back in 2017 by moving to a disposable vape pen. Then last fall, I developed an issue with my mouth that made me quit the vape pen. I didn’t have a plan to quit nicotine at the time so I started using cigarettes again. In this video I explain why I finally decided to quit nicotine for good. I share with you what the first week was like as well as the things I wish I had done differently.

I’m so proud and happy for you. I’m 7 months nicotine free. I smoked for 50 years! And it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done but so worth it. I did quit for one year 10 years ago then something tragic happened in my life and started right back up. Never tell yourself just one! After multiple attempts at quitting throughout the 50 years unsuccessfully, I finally realized you have to have a plan and be mentally ready for the roller coaster you’re about to get on. Do all the google research you can . And you’re right cold turkey is the way to go. I tried everything on the market they’ve come up with and all you’re doing is still feeding your craving and there’s never a point in which you say okay today is the day you’re really going to quit. What you described in your first week is so true. That’s the hardest week for sure. Every day your body is detoxing more nicotine so you brain is fighting you into smoking because you know that’s the cure to make your suffering go away. And the #1 thing, is YOU REALLY HAVE TO WANT TO QUIT FOR GOOD! Nicotine is an awful thing that controls your brain. It’s nice to know when you finally realize you’re the one in control of what you put into your body! Keep fighting the triggers because they do get easier. Congratulations and keep up the great work. You so deserve it after being a prisoner all those years. Nice to break free huh? And all of you that are reading this you CAN do it too! Good Luck & Stay Strong. YOU GOT THIS! 🙏🏻 for your success. 👍🏼😊

Hi! I am late to comment but have been watching. Twenty plus years ago I quite cold turkey, it was one of the hardest things that I have done. It will get better! At first the smell screamed my name but now I get sick to my stomach. Take small steps... even if it is hour to hour. I know you can do it! Cyber hugs -Patty🌻

I've been all over the place with nicotine. About 5 years ago I quit for 6 months and picked it back up again. Recently I decided after my faith in Jesus got stronger that I knew quitting nicotine was something I had to do both for myself and Jesus. I have faith that Jesus will help me through this period of quitting. Lately, I have been doing nicotine gum, patches, and vape. I've tried everything and wasn't getting anywhere. Cause I want to quit nicotine and not find an alternative. So I decided cold turkey and my faith in Jesus is the only option. If he suffered for us by sacrificing himself on the cross, than the least I can do is suffer through nicotine withdrawals for him, and now that is what I'm deciding to do. I'm currently on day 3.

May God bless you for your honesty and I'm so proud of you.I quit about four years ago had tragedy strike in my life. I'm a retired EMT/firefighter, and my Dad got VERY sick the kind of sick that makes your heart stop. And I was in the house when it happen. Now when your at work and your caring for and working on others it's hard enough, but when it's your Dad it's horrifying. So After I got him help and we all got him stable enough for transport I first thanked God and then went out and grabbed one of his smokes and lit up not just one but 1/2 the pack. So this year on my B-day I will be doing the deed all over I pray God gives me courage and strength I need to get through this again.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR STORY I'm going to save it for when it get's bad.
All my love.
God Bless you

Good on your for getting clean this is a hard thing to do. I’m day 4 free of nicotine. My longest streak was 11 days and I relapsed for a stupid reason, just felt cravings and gave in. I’ve been smoking for six years I’m 25 years old. Started when I was 19.

I have been smoking for over 22 years. I cold turkey quit both times I was pregnant with no difficulty. I refused to harm my unborn child but I started back after my maternity leave was over both times. It’s crazy but when My health was at stake, I couldn’t do it for myself. But I had no problem doing it for my babies. I attempted to quit last year with patches and gum. I made it two weeks and then I started buying 1-2 black n milds a week and indulging in every puff. My logic was that’s way better than a pack a day habit and lots cheaper. After 50 days like that, I started back full time at least a pack a day.
I am 5 days into my quit this time and it feels different. I no longer feel like I am depriving myself of anything. Instead I feel empowered by my decision to take back control of my life. My self esteem is at an all time high right now because I am sticking with the decision and I did it cold turkey. My children are so proud of me as well😁💕. Thank you for sharing your story! My prayers go out to all who struggle with quitting and those who need strength along the way 🙏🏼❤️

Congratulations on your toughness. It gets worse. I have survived a major heart attack (Doc says cigarettes are to blame). Still trying to quit. Crazy, but they have a tight hold on me. Your story is encouraging, I am searching for anything to help me get off these things. Thanks again and God bless you and your family.

I hope you’ve managed to completely kick the nicotine habit. Two weeks ago I went cold turkey off all diet soda. I was drinking two to three large sodas daily and I was out of control. Went bat shit crazy for a couple of days, but I’ve kind of lost the desire for it. Love your channel and I wish we were neighbors.
