This painting is by no means finished. Today we will begin a little video series guiding you through a paint along of a portrait. Once all the videos are uploaded you will be able to paint along with me. It's all about interpreting visual information and never about copying a picture.

My favorite color atm is cobalt green. But I don't use it every time obviously

Hi Yupari, you said your canvas size was 11 x 14" (I think) but you still have the large canvas size (the painting of Steve) in your notes.

This is really great, very helpful. I was wondering if you could talk about background colour choice, because no matter what I use it never works out, my backgrounds ruin my paintings. I tried contrasting dark background against light areas, but it doesn't produce the expected result. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. Thanks, I really enjoy and appreciate your demos.

DrawMixPaint channel is said to have the best oil paints!! You should check it out!
Its a limited pallet though! He has excellent videos though for mixing them and using them, and explaining them, I study him, Mark Carden, Yupari and Florent Farges for all my oil painting needs! I call them my TRINITY!!! I'll also mention Jill POYERD Fine Art channel who did a three part series on "Brush Strokes" which is insanely brilliant!!
