The Daily Yupari | BASIC PROPORTIONS & Block-In EXPLAINED

Let's try something a little different this time. In this week's portrait painting video we will actually be splitting the process into several videos. These videos will be uploaded each day of the week so that you can see the entire process unfold (mistakes and everything). My aim is to allow you to have much more time to view and listen into the real life process of creating art.

The first step in this painting will be the preparatory drawing. You will see me wrestle with the block in, and then next time we will start shading. Once we are satisfied with the drawing, we will transfer it to a panel for the painting (later this week).

Thank you for showing the block in. So many artists skip over the process in their demonstrations leaving new artists in the dark about one of the most important steps: a strong foundation!

Man, thanks for sharing an academic approach, very seldom an artist shows this “hidden” methods, unless one pays a fortune, and you give them away😱

enjoy the classical approach and truly enjoy watching and listening to the process. helps to set up the process and eliminate the anxiety.

Superb! The best video I've seen on how to get the proportions, shapes and angles right to get the likeness. The process of giving it your best guess, constantly assessing and relating things to each other, and adjusting as necessary. Showing on the video the struggles you go through even as an experienced artist -which is most heartening for us beginners. Nearly all youtube artists miss this stuff out, and show speeded up, edited videos of them getting it all right first time -it makes them look good, whilst the audience feels crap and learns nothing! Thankyou very much for sharing this :-)

thank you for this video...it is so helpful to know that struggle is a part of the process and not an inability to draw correctly... what is really needed is patience and perseverance ....

What a helpful video! To see how you made changes in your drawing is so instructive. You make me feel that I can learn to draw proportionally.

Can u do this more? And can you do more a more detailed video on your block in with paint. I noticed you jumped to the final product in your step by step Zorn video. Which I watched about 3 times cause I thought I missed it but i didn't. You skipped it. Thank you. Thank you so much. I truly appreciate your work❤❤❤

I am a lazy AND reluctant artist . . .SO much work, , speaking as an old amateur photographer.. You're a great teacher, and God, you sound like how I might teach, if I was so brave.
