Honestly if they never considered using grape shot in that thing that's on them, because that would've been far more effective, especially given the fact that those aren't big guns and are there for easily maneuverable

I feel like this would work if you had two barrels with one chamber, so that you were only dealing with one explosion of powder. This would guarantee that both barrels would go off at the same time

Alternative idea, just use one barrel and launch the chain shot, have one half of the shot be slightly heavier and cause it to spin, the spin means its likely to move side to side mid air and wipe out a large spread of opponents. Only issue is accuracy but when facing opponents who literally line up for you i think it still has potential…

Probably could’ve got the infantry-shredding results they wanted if they just used canister shot in each barrel.

You could have a small powder groove between the barrels that would then have a little flame duct to each barrel, so that if you have a semi consistent powder burn, it would act as a primer for a modern firearm. This way if the flame ducts were short enough it would split a burst of fire evenly between both barrels, and set the main charges of at the same time. Of course you would have to accurately measure the amount of powder in each barrel and at the same time make sure that you press the shot in each barrel with the same pressure. (both of these things would be very difficult to do during battle)

I was expecting the issue to be that the joined sides of each cannon appear to thinner, which created a weakness along that side of their lengths. And so when they were fired, they peeled open like a cartoon or a banana.

I would've removed the wall separating the two barrels and given the chain a loose casing that holds all three together when it's loaded and seals at the back end of the cannon. Then have two loading holes as usual, but again have the combustion chambers connected and lit from a single fuse.

I then I would've blown my damn face off, probably
