Just before the 10 minute mark you remarked why so many UK towns and cities have prepositions in their name. They’re the names of rivers normally. And the reason they do it is to either advertise that they are situated on a river for tourism, or to differentiate from another town with the same name. For example the Newcastle that we all know is Newcastle-upon-Tyne as it is on the Tyne river. There are 4-5 Newcastles across the UK, one of the others is Newcastle-under-Lyme. Staines recently changed their name to Staines-upon-Thames (same river as London) as it sounds nicer to visit that way.

Just thought I’d add a little insight for you Geography nerds. :)

Monaco use red-white flag since 1339 (still changing too) and officially red-white like now was 4th april 1881


Indonesia use red-white since 1293 (majapahit empire/kingdom) but i don't know if we can call it Indonesian flag because it was Majapahit who claimed Nusantara (Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei and small part of Philippines)

Explanation for 9:42: the prepositions in UK place names refer to the fact that these cities are near rivers. For example, Stoke-on-Trent is near the River Trent and my hometown, Kingston-upon-Hull, is near the River Hull (which coincidentally flows into the larger River Humber which is the source of the former name of the county Humberside). We just really like our prepositions haha
