for anyone interested in visiting oman, I definitely suggest the following areas to visit: Salalah, Nizwa, souq mutrah, jabal Akhdar, al alam palace & the royal opera house in muscat (so many more I could list but yeah lol)

Kinda surprised that Barby didn't elaborate more on the history of Oman here, considering that, in the Oman video itself Barby started the recap *at* the Portuguese occupation. Despite Oman having tons of history before then. Find the whole thing still odd.

And because I am writing this comment, I might as well do a Geography Now style history recap on Oman's history pre-Portugese occupation. This is by no means a scholarly or comprehensive list.

History of Oman before Portuguese Occupation:
Arabian Nubian Complex in Dhofar
Palaeolithic and Neolithic cultures develop
Bronze age cultures (such as Umm an-Nar, Wadi Suq and Bat)
Ancient civilisation of Magan/Makan
Bronze Age migration into Oman
Achaemenid Occupation
Samad Late Iron Age culture and Pre-Islamic Recent Period (PIRP)
Parthian occupation
Kingdom of Oman (possible Aksumite client state)
Sassanian Occupation
Expedition of Zaid ibn Haritha and Omani conversion to Islam
Kharijites move in, Imamate created
Qarmatian Occupation
Buyid Occupation
Seljuk Occupation
Indigenous Nabhani dynasty takes power (power briefly interrupted between 1406 and 1443)
And finally we have the Portuguese occupation of Muscat! Where the fun back and forth game between the Portuguese, Ottomans, the Imamate and the Yaruba Dynasty took hold!

Doubt anyone will read this, but might as well put it out there. For those that did read it, hope you enjoyed it!

Oman is also famous for the Khareef in Dhofar. It attracts a ton of visitors during the July August Khareef

Fun Fact:
Oman had 3 historically recorded names and them being Majan, Mazoon and Oman/Uman

The Sumerians and people between the two rivers (Tigris & Euphrates) called it Majan which in the Sumerian language means the ship's skeleton/hull frame which is due to Oman's popularity with ship building.

The Persians called it Mazoon meaning copper due to Oman's richness in copper.

And then Oman which is the most debated for the fact that no one really knows where it came from! And many debate on wether it comes from:

1) The arabic word A'man (عَمن/ يعمن /اعمن) that means the *"the stayed in/established/resided place"*

2) Oman was called after *Uman* son of *Saba* son of *Yaqshan* son of *[The Prophet] Abraham.*

(Saba is also known as Kan'an and Sheba in English. Also Yaqshan is known as Yaqfan and Joktan or Jokshan in English)

3) Oman is called after the river in Yemen called Uman which a tribe by the same name who used to live there migrated to Oman and are descends of the Qahtanies.

And the best used reference for Oman comes from a roman writing by Peleus; who lived within the first century, and talks about a city called Omana which is similar to Ptolemy's writing in the second century. Many assume Omana to be the city of Sohar whom was the economical center in the region.
