many langauges can already run in the browser using different transpiler, like emscripten which compiles c/c++ code into web assembly module code. This is exactly how python is able to run on the browser. Pyodide uses Emscripten to compile CPython interpreter written in c into web assembly code. So basically python interpreter is now web assembly which is reading python code and executing it.
Currently web assembly do not have access to the DOM APIs yet due to which web assembly still makes calls to javascript call to do stuffs.

In the end, it all comes down to the community support for front end web development. Python has great community support but for front end, it's only javascript for now and in the future.
