Should you learn Python or Javscript? The answer to that largely depends on what type of programming project that you work on. However, if you're starting out with a specific goal, one language may be a better option than the other.

Doesn’t matter. Learn either. You’ll end up using both at some point anyways.

I learned python first, but if I could do back I would learn JavaScript. It’s more tactile, being able to watch the screen of the browser update as you edit your code.

Learn the language that solves your problem! Not just because its a popular language

speaking from experience, if you learn JavaScript first, learning Python will be a lot easier.

Most important about your choice is picking something you try to get actually good at.

When you are starting, dont try to be a jack of all trades. Get good at one or two things first as a way into coding and then build on that.

Also: discere faciendo - learn by doing.

I learn python (& django framework) and javascript (& react js), But I work with php. In my local job market php is still the king for web development (especially with laravel).

If you don't know any programming language yet, changes are you have no idea what "full stack developer", "front end" or "back end" mean.

Legit just learn one and if you ever need the other it's an easy transition imo.

I do my backend in python flask & front end in html, css, javascript. I like both of these. Python is a god level language for data engineering & JS is the best for front end web development.

I learned to drive Automatic Cars and it was the biggest mistake of my life (well in terms of learning to drive cars) I think that since JavaScript is Ubiquitous it is the same as driving automatic so do yourself a favour learn Python 🐍 because sooner or later you will have no choice to learn JavaScript… on the other hand if you learn JavaScript you will be able to survive without Python and you will maybe not have any incentive for learning it I think that learning both is the way to go…

Runtimes like NodeJS make JavaScript applications way faster than python. You should just default to using JavaScript unless there is a package you need that is only supported on python.

What would you suggest for automation?

Typescript is closer to many other languages, so if you plan on learning multiple languages, then I'd go with typescript
