Let’s talk about keto and clogged arteries. It sounds logical that if you eat more fat, you will get a clogged artery. But that’s not how it works in the body.

There are various hormones in the body that tell certain types of calories what to convert into. The hormone that tells the body whether to clog the artery or clean out the artery is called insulin. Insulin is like a switch that converts fat as storage in the body and clogs arteries.

Insulin is a very inflammatory hormone, and if you have too much of it, you can have a lot of inflammation, which can set you up for developing a clot in the arteries. So, what started the clot was really insulin and not consuming cholesterol.

The body makes a lot of cholesterol. When you consume more fat, your body makes less. What really creates the clogged artery is high levels of insulin from consuming too many carbohydrates.

I believe, if you were to cut your carbohydrates down, you would likely notice your bad cholesterol and triglycerides would go down. But, on the other hand, if you increase your sugar intake and insulin, I believe your cholesterol would go up.

I'm pretty upset that I learn more on youtube than in school. So much misinformation I received. Not saying there isn't misinformation on the internet.

My triglycerides are at 101 on a high fat diet. No grains, no sugar, no flour. Feel better now than I did at 20.

I've been following a fairly strict low carb diet for the last 6 months no more than 100G carbs on workout days and no more than 30G on non workout days. I felt energized, was able to wake up early and alert, no aches and pains. I went on vacation for 3 weeks and ate anything and everything that looked good, buffets, sandwiches, tacos, Chinese food, noodles, rice desserts full of sugar, ice cream. I got a hives outbreak, and now I have some serious pain in my right leg at night. I am 99 percent sure my sudden change in diet caused this. Will be getting on the keto diet to feel superhuman again!

Everything Dr. Berg said in this video I agree 1000% because as a T2D converted to Ketogenic diet, and lowering my insuling and eating a lot more fat than before, my cholesterol, triglyceride, body fat and inflammation went down in three weeks of low carbs and fasting. The key is fasting to lower your insulin. During the week, I do 16/8 and on weekends I do 24 intermittent fasting. To speed up the process, add workout to it and your body becomes a fat burning machine.

Thanks Dr. Berg.

Thank you so much Dr. Berg! You have helped me so much! I am 23 years old and 1 year ago I was told that I needed to be on diabetes and blood pressure medication. My doctor at the time was not very helpful. I felt like something was wrong with me. I believed my doctor was going help me. But, I felt like my doctor was trying to treat me with medications and could not explain why I was sick in the first place. I asked my doctor how I could control this problem naturally with diet and exercise and I was told that this problem I had was absolutely genetic and diet changes wouldn't help much. ... That answer did not sit very well with me. So I took it into my own hands to help myself. I have found your channel around that time I was diagnosed as borderline diabetic and I have been on a ketogenic diet for about 8 months now and have lost over 40 lbs. and feel like a completely new person! I am no longer diabetic and my A1C went from 6.5 down to 4.1!!! If it wasn't for you and your brilliant videos, I am not sure where I would be now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the wonderful work you do. You are helping so many people, and it a wonderful thing to see.

I was pre-diebetic and had hypertension before the ketogenic diet, and now my blood sugar and blood pressure is normal. FAT is not the enemy, it's actually CARBOHYDRATES/SUGAR.

There are many mistaken notions of health that the public espouses as the gospel truth. Of all of them, the two biggest ones are:

1. Eating fat makes you fat.
2. Eating fat and cholesterol, in and of itself, are the biggest contributor to clogged arteries.

If just these two erroneous notions were dispelled to the point that all of the public was aware of it, that would go a long way to creating a healthier society. Thank you Dr. Berg for doing your part in spreading this valuable information

This is very true. Unfortunately most doctors don't understand this! I gained 31 lbs in 3 months on a starch based vegan diet and my blood sugar, cholesterol and triglycerides shot up. After doing keto for four months I've lost almost all of the weight, cholesterol and blood sugar went way down and triglycerides are HALF of what they were 😉 No cholesterol meds for me...

Dr Berg, none of us can find your link on Ketosis. You said it's a free program that will take us 20 minutes to do. But I can't find the link anywhere. Thanks for everything. If I watch your videos every day I stay on track with my eating.

As I began to research on Ketosis (and began my intermittent fasting), your channel is a one stop resource for everything. Thank you Dr. Berg.

I went from a high carb to high fat diet. Cholesterol way up, but what scared me the most, was that tg levels almost doubled ! Checked levels three times, one month apart and levels are getting more worse every time I measure.
