try this remedy I'm writing below. It works for me.

Crush few pieces of fresh ginger and remove the juice ( about 2 tsp or so). Add a equal amount of milk ( whole milk) to it. Mix and apply to the scalp wherever the roots hurt. Leave it for half an hour or so and then wash it. I sometimes apply at night & leave it overnight.
It really helps.
