Actually, just changing to the "bridged" mode "autodetect" solved it for me; thanks for showing me how to do this

You are a legend pal. This definitely helped, my VM is still quite slow compared to host sometimes but at least now it is usable and as I am using this for software development purposes has made it viable. Been using this for last couple of years and never seen that option talk about blind. Thanks again

If your internet doesn't work in bridged mode you must run vmware's "Virtual Network Editor" and select the *right or active working* connection for bridged mode. If you don't have Virtual Network Editor on your VmWare there are tutorials on how to install.
