My guest this week is Lorraine C. Ladish

But most of all I am a woman, a mom, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a writer, an entrepreneur, a yogini.

I was born in Spain to a family of writers. My grandfather owned a printing press. On the weekends and after school, my sister and I would help him collate books. I still remember the smell of the ink, the glue, the paper. My dad made a huge effort to make sure all his children could express themselves fluently in two languages.

Or maybe writing chose me.
I wrote and published my first book, about an eating disorder I battled for years, before I turned 30. My world was never the same after that.
I love drawing, and I´ve spent most of my life dancing (modern, jazz and Latin). I used to be a runner. But recently I rediscovered yoga, and now I spend part of my day finding grace on and off the mat.

I married in my mid-thirties, having my first baby at 37 and my second one at 40. I love my girls with all my heart. I was raised by my abuelita, which affected how I´ve mothered my own girls, giving it my all, striving to be the best mom I can.

I moved to Florida in 2004, a day before a hurricane hit the Sunshine State. Four years later, during the Great Recession my world crumbled. I lost my marriage, my savings and my source of income. I found myself absolutely broke—emotionally and financially. But with two little girls to take care of, and with the help and inspiration from many friends along the way, I managed to reinvent my writing career by taking it online.

A year later I met the love of my life, also a writer. And guess what else? He’s also multicultural and bilingual, and the father of a young boy, similar in age to my daughters´. What more could I have wished for?

For 13 years we have lived together as a blended family with our three children, and a dog we rescued along the way. Our kids are practically adults and we are empty-nesters. Together, we face challenges similar to those of other multicultural families in the United States.

My dream is to one day live in a house by the beach. I can´t complain though, I can hop in the car and in less than ten minutes, be soaking my toes in the ocean. All this while I pursue my love of inspiring women to live a full life and chase their dreams.
