2024 Chevrolet Trax Activ review by The Straight Pipes. The Trax is putting down 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque from a turbo 1.2L 3 Cylinder. At $30,554 CAD, would you take it over the Honda Civic or Buick Envista?

I'm glad you guys sometimes review vehicles that I could actually buy. I'm not shopping for this one, but reviews like this are way more meaningful to me than some McLaren.

I have LOVED my Trax so far. The price, the options, the look, the comfort. Just fantastic. I am a cruiser, don’t speed, and just need a spacious car that helps me travel from point A to point B.

Previous trax was soooo ugly. This has gotta be the biggest single generation glowup in entry-level car history.

Edit: I swear I wrote that comment before Jakub said "glowup of the century" so he technically stole my line.

Im honestly super excited as I’m going from a 96 explorer to this car. This will be my second car and a massive upgrade. To have an affordable and fully functional car is exciting. Just waiting for it to be delivered to my dealer. Thank you for doing a video on this that way I can be even more excited to drive it ❤️

If a new Trax can announce the presence of my hustle, then I'm sold.

I have been driving a 1RS for the past two weeks in the city and on the freeway. It has been a blast to drive! It was recently added to my brother's Turo fleet and he is letting my wife and I use it for an extended test drive since we want to purchase a new car soon. It is very peppy for a 1.2L turbo and it handles nicely too. The auto start/stop feature worked flawlessly and I noticed almost no turbo lag, unlike my VW Golf TDI. Some reviewers comment that it is underpowered yet they manage to spin the wheels off the line with fairly wide tires. It has plenty of get-up-and-go to merge onto freeways. I know because I've done it many times. One reviewer made a great comment stating that if you feel this car doesn't have enough power to safely drive around town or merge onto freeways, you probably should not be behind the wheel because you don't know how to drive. I am paraphrasing but that is the gist of it. The six-speed auto is very smooth, better for around town than a dual-clutch tranny any day. Dual-clutch transmissions are more fun to drive manually but for those who do not wish to throw the vehicle around every corner aggressively 😬 this is a better option.

I wish the 1RS had a push-button start (like the 2 RS) because that is what my wife would prefer. 😏 A new Chevy Trax would be a nice change for her, not having to look at the TDI Christmas tree light dashboard constantly. The TDI now needs a $3, 000 plus ABS module, plus labour. 🙄

The Trax rides nice and high so no worries about scraping the front end on a high cement curb when parking yet it sticks to the road, more like a hatchback. The four-speaker stereo is "okay" but being a music producer, I do wish it was a little better. My wife's current car is a 2011 VW Golf TDI and it has a very nice stereo with 8 speakers. Her TDI does NOT have the Dynaudio upgrade but still sounds much better than the Trax. I know the 2RS has a six-speaker system but I'm not sure if it sounds any better as I have yet to hear it. I believe it adds tweeters up front. Don't get me wrong, the 4 speaker system in the 1RS is fine, just nothing special. As a recording studio engineer/producer, I often listen to songs that I am in the middle of mixing in my car which is why it is important to me. My wife thinks it sounds just fine. As for the old-style tach and speedo, I like it! I think it is very RS in nature 😎 much more so than a digital dash. 🙄 I guess I'm old school that way. This 1RS also has the Driver Confidence package which adds a host of safety features, something our 2011 Golf TDI is lacking. If this one had the sunroof option I would most likely buy it from my bro. He has a white one with the sunroof but we want Fountain Blue like this one BUT with the sunroof. The red accents inside and out look very sporty and the cloth seats appear to be of high quality and are comfy too. They heat up quickly and so does the steering wheel. The seats have three heat settings while the steering wheel has one. I like the low heat setting for the seats but find the heated steering wheel is too hot to leave on continuously. I have seen some reviewers state that there are no rear air vents but that is wrong. They are located under the front seats.

I am pretty sure we'll be purchasing one soon in Fountain Blue but my bro says they are hard to come by since they provide so much bang for the buck. I now have to convince myself that the decrease in fuel economy over the TDI and average car stereo will be worth it. I can always upgrade the speakers though. All my wife wants is a new car without the dashboard warning lights coming on all the time. We both think this is a fine-looking vehicle. 😀

About me. I am a self-proclaimed car guy. I have restored multiple cars over the years and have a 1982 Lancia Zagato parked in my garage as a sunny day driver. I ❤ cars.

I'm 6'4" and your visor test is a godsend. I sit far back enough that sun visors that don't slide are mostly useless.

The biggest reason for the way HVAC systems direct air is for efficiency. Since utilizing the HVAC uses energy, they want to make the distribution of that air as efficiency as possible. Blowing only down for heat (since heat rises) gives you a similar amount of "cabin heating" with using less energy, same with the AC.

The front has a nice design. The rear would look nice after a 6 pack of Coronas and the lights dimmed out.

I got one a month ago. I have the base model, but; I’m not missing anything. It’s a nice ride for the price.

my 70yo boss once monotonously referred our rental car as the Chevy Trash, surprised me with how funny it was.

This is a perfectly serviceable vehicle. Great for those antique store runs and taking the dog to the park.

I bought an Activ trim about a month ago, and nothing to complain about. Even getting 32 mpg before a full break-in period!

I've had this for a couple of weeks after getting rid of my $30K sedan that I had for 11 years. I'm not a car guy, so I don't really care about LED lights (I don't even know what the pros on cons are for those) or horsepower. I used to have over 200 horsepower, and, again, I really don't care that I now have much less. It looks nice. It handles just fine. I can't pass people up as easily and can't beat the car to my side from a red light stop anymore, but I shouldn't be doing those things, anyway. I bought the base model with no extras, and I'm quite satisfied with it at a $20, 450 price point.

Thanks for reviewing a car that is mostly obtainable! More average joe spec cars please!
