Not gunna lie, I wouldn’t be caught dead in a Chevy, but the Trax is insanely good looking and impressive for how ridiculously cheap it is. That thing does NOT look like it costs $24k.

My son just got a 25 for 18, 000 with trade he’s already having issues and it’s only 130 miles on it…. It keeps slowing down and speeding up almost feels like it’s trying to brake with and with out the cruise set!!! I’m taking it that the turbo is either bad or the transmission is jacked!!! Either way thank god for warranty and gap… it’s a Chevy is exactly what I told him it is when he asked me what it could be

There was a spark timer software recall on the 2024 in early 2024 that fixed an issue that might have contributed to blown engines. These vehicles have in-oil wet rubber timing belts - the manual says replace it at 150k miles, but I'm replacing mine at 40-50k. If it snaps, the interference engine could be severely damaged. Some say the Trax is good for a 3-5 year lease. Beyond that, own at your own risk. Change that oil every 4000 miles.

It's too slow, the engine is underpowered; and that's with a turbo included. Meaning the engine has to constantly work harder to not be slower. 0-60mph. times are just a whisker under 9.9 seconds. Which isn't helped by the transmission. Although thankfully it's a 6-speed automatic instead of a CVT, that transmission is incredibly unresponsive at expressway speeds. Also, stop and take a good look at it. It's not an SUV. Not remotely enough ground clearance, and AWD isn't available as an option. It's literally a Wagon.

Interior components are ridiculously cheap. A cheap price-tag, impressive outer styling, and availability of heated seats, steering wheel, and mirrors even on the base trim LS are literally the only good things about this wagon.

1 reason to completely disregard (RUN from) the Chevy Trax…wet timing belt with an expensive amount of labor to maintain (if it doesn’t snap in the first place).

It’s almost as if they decided to go with an old style timing system to purposely screw customers over. No it can’t be. It’s Chevy we are talking about. Reliable Timing chains are so 2023

Idk what the hate is on Chevy I had a Chevy beat the hell out of it treated it like crap because I didn’t pay much for it just did oil changes nothing else and it lasted almost 200k miles. And I beat that Chevy up. This is a good price for what i believe is a good car.

What about the 2025? I got the 2025 all black LT because I needed to get rid of my Jaguar, then I read something about the vehicle using the wet belt technology I believe it's called instead of a regular timing chain

The engine has a turbo, direct injection without port injection, and wet belt technology. All bad things in my book.

I didn't hear the salesman bragging about how expensive it will be to change a rubber belt down inside the engine. When (not if) the belt starts shedding material that material will clog up the oil pickup and starve the engine for lubrication.

Wet belt should have been a chain.

Plastic cover. Two timing belts. Complicated to repair. Why do they have the make it difficult? They don’t want us to have cheap reliable, transportation.

Look Old wrench turner, here 50+yrs experience here. Oh hell no. Look for a Honda or Toyota or a Mazda 3 yrs or older under 60k mileage. No real mechanic will by these.

The engine is completely unacceptable and i think another gear or 2 or a cvt would increase fuel efficiency and acceleration but becides that its a extremely good deal
