I was on the phone with Verizon tech for over an hour... they had me reset the box 3 times.... the problem was no one was telling me to turn my phone off and back on... thank you for this video! because of it I'm not switching to at&t....Lol

Because my entire home as well as detached garage have metal siding, they both act as faraday boxes for my cellular devices. I called VZW yesterday, and they actually are sending one of these units out to me for free. Excited to see you had such an improvement; hopefully I see similar results.

I just wanted to add a few notes in case other people find this video and are having issues, if you keep getting the 5A error the most likely cause is the MAC address was not properly scanned into the verizon system when you bought it at the store, this is an issue caused by different length MAC addresses and isn't even the fault of the guy at the store, it's an issue within verizons software (a guy I know used to work for verizon).

Don't immediately freak out if it seams to be taking a long time to connect to the different servers, when we set ours up we spent over 45 MINUTES on the "connecting to HeMS Server" and I read on forums it can take over an hour to connect to everything during the initial setup, so as long as you aren't getting an error message just let it run.

The GPS antenna has nothing to do with your signal strength, it is simply a federally regulated requirement, when you dial 911 your phone uses it's GPS data to know which 911 call center to send you to, when you connect to this you aren't connected to a standard cell network so you can't be GPS located by the network and so the device has to have a GPS device with a location lock so it can route you to the proper 911 center when you are connected to the extender.

What this device essentially does is it uses your internet connection to connect to Verizon servers and makes it's own little cell tower.

Once setup this thing is AWESOME, we have an outbuilding near the main building, in the main building we have the wifi router on the lower level and a wireless repeater on the main level on the side closest to the outbuilding (this extender is on the side of the main level opposite the outbuilding) and in that out building my phone using the Speedtest app would only see 10-11 Mbps down speed on Wifi but when I turned wifi off and ran the test connected to this Network Extender it was up around like 46-47 Mbps down speed and the RANGE, Oh My God, i've made a phone call from more then 250 Feet away, more then double the distance of the wifi, the only way I can get wifi to reach that far is with a directional Yagi style antenna, but those antennas have a very narrow beam, this thing has that range in every direction, a large percentage of the property has fully functional verizon coverage now.

We used to use one of those Wilson Cell Repeaters because at the highest level of the building we could get a bar or 2 of cell coverage, but over time the trees have grown and the coverage from that has just reached the point of being maybe a bar or 2 right next to the repeater where you are lucky to get a picture text to go through and so we had switched to Wifi Calling but the bosses Iphone just always wanted to send texts via the cell network instead of using wifi calling (unless he was texting another iphone), this solved all the issues of the crappy signal and was frankly so much easier then dealing with cell repeaters. Unlike Cell Repeaters like the Wilson device this is it's own cell tower, so if you are in an area with NO CELL COVERAGE, this is how you get cell coverage.
