Yes, chechem is one of our favorite exotic woods these days. When you see it with a sweet-and-simple finish you'll see why for yourself. We made this little keepsake box to walk you through how we applied General Finishes Arm-R-Seal wood finish with three coats and a little bit of scuffing between each. And the result? BOOM! It's gorgeous!

Woods Used:
Chechem "Caribbean Rosewood" (box sides)
Bamboo (lid & corner splines)

Other:
General Finishes Arm-R-Seal, satin sheen
Gray finishing pads (aka synthetic steel wood)

That chechem is beautiful. Almost reminds me of canarywood with the yellows and purples. Cheers! Chris.

Hi Mark, thank you for the well made video. This and the walnut danish oil finish. One thing i didnt get from both videos is after scuffing with the pad do you wipe the residue off with tack cloth or anything or does the next coat go on after scuff without wiping clean?

Lovely. At the very very end do you sand it and buff it or anything?

Hi. I am at the step where I am going to apply my first coat of Arm-R-Seal. I am applying it to a desk that I just stained. Do you need to sand before applying my first coat? I know I need to apply in between coats, but didn't know if I needed to sand before the first coat. If I do, what grade of sandpaper should I use? Thanks

Great job! What color would you call that stain?

I know this is a little late to comment but you’re not supposed to wipe arm r seal off. It’s not like other oils. If you wipe it it will get tacky and nasty in my opinion. You’re better off letting it level and dry and then sand if you have to rather than scuff. That’s my opinion. I’ve never seen anyone apply arm r seal and wipe it off before.
