'Anything Goes' Bacon and Onion Tart Recipe

This tart is, quite simply, a sheet of ready-rolled puff pastry piled with slow-cooked onions and bacon bits. It takes ten minutes to prepare although with cooking times allow an hour all in.

I do a sweet one with apple pieces previously macerated in lemon juice, sugar and cinnamon. Sometimes I add raisins, blueberries or pine nuts. It's delicious when it's hot and I serve it for breakfast. Sometimes I do it with tomato sauce, cheese and thyme (as if it was pizza!) and sometimes with courgettes and cheese :)

Cool the onions first so that you get a crispier bottom . Drain the liquid before adding to puff . Less cream and maybe add a bit of cheese .

really? We've not had that problem. Perhaps the filling was a bit much and made it soggy. You could always cut the pastry in half and make smaller tarts. I've never pre cooked the pastry before it went in.

last time i tried making tarts the base under the filling did not cook ....it was cooked at the same temp that u did. my dad said i shudv cooked the pastry by itself for a little bit in the oven first

And why do you put oil in the pan to fry the bacon?
The fat is already in the ba on!
