I just made it to state today from my chapter :). I’m only averaging like a 22-23 on the sprint round and I really want to make it to nationals this year since it’s my last.

02:33 Clarification: Team round is 10 questions in 20 minutes.

What are the difficulty levels of the strech/warm-up/work-out problems in the school handbook? They seem easy. Are they the school contest levels?

(Sorry in advance for the long comment)

I got a 25 in 6th grade (💀 I had a mid sprint round and BOMBED the target. I only got 3 questions right) and was in the bottom quartile of my chapter (~120th). I didn’t really study for it at all. I used my prior knowledge that I had picked up from random places and a few years of RSM back in middle school and made some educated guesses.

This year, I got a 33 and was in the top quartile of my chapter (36th). I used your Mastering AMC 8 book to prepare, but I ran out of time after I had gone through about 2/3 of the combinatorics section, which was my weakest topic by far. Because of this, my target round score improved by 6 points to get a 12/16. However, my sprint round was still not amazing. I only attempted 2 out of the last 10 problems, but thankfully, I only got 1 wrong so I still ended up with a pretty decent score of 21.

If I finish your Mastering AMC 8 book and start learning the basics for AMC 10/12, do you think I can raise my score enough to be in the top 13 at my chapter competition in February (normally at least high 30s)?

I got 12th in my state as a 6th grader with a 28/46. Should I do the AoPS introduction series if I want to make nationals next year. Should I also do MATHCOUNTS trainer and alcumus

I got first in my chapter and I’m going to states. I don’t think I’m making it to nationals though

What is a good score for chapter in order to advance to state? And how many students from each chapter go to state? (I know each state is different, just want to get a rough idea.)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the team round 10 questions in 20 minutes?

Also I just did the chapter Mathcounts competition in St. Petersburg, FL. Didn’t make it to states, but my friend did 😅
Still won a $30 gift card though.
