$850 fine for out of date tag not even in my name! Twice, not allowing me 30 days between payments! Causing me to miss work for multiple court dates! $250 fee just for going to court! Cop harassment causes you to be homeless! If you become homeless the states taking all your taxes, for emergency room bills! Which are I believe to fall right into the 8th amendment. What happened to free consultation lawyers??? Tell ya what happens, when you cause someone to be homeless they have no rights if nobody acknowledge they even exist! How many 8th amendment violations is it when they cost you your ability to purse a home even lie about low income housing!! Now that's something needs be investigated and especially the corruption in the Bible belt it's worse than anywhere else! They put you in jail then probation and if you can't hold your head above water then they push you down even more!

To all you lawyers, I know a governor can reduce a criminal's prison sentence if a judge gives them too long of a sentence, but if a judge gives a criminal too little of a sentence, can the governor give the criminal a longer prison sentence?

A 6 year old boy just died due to a 39 year old man with a bat here in Texas. It needs to be abolished.

I agree with Heinlein on this. Punishment MUST be ‘cruel and unusual’ in order to ensure recidivism is unlikely, and to send a message to other would-be offenders. I’m all for public lashes being reinstituted for felony crimes.

Is bankrupting someone with a very excessive bond considered unfair punishment? And should a judge applying such conditions not be sent to jail himself? Hey just asking!

What about police officers like Derek Chauvin?

Nice. Of course we shouldn’t be punished inappropriately nor in such a cruel manner that would be considered ridiculous or inhumane

Being held for 2 years before even seeing a judge, wouldn’t this violate that amendment? January 6 rioters that didn’t go into the White House

Hell yeah. That deathrow inmate who recently had his execution appealed in the of Alabama- he was entirely correct in his argument that the situation was an Eight Amendment violation.
Alabama passed a law offering nitrous oxide to deathrow folks on execution day but they were unable to have it available on his execution day despite his arguments that it is "more humane." That's pretty darn cruel and unusual

I personally think whipping people should be a right the government should have. There's a lot of kids commiting crimes, and beating them with a whip probably will scare off most kids from commiting crimes. But we do have torture in prisons now. Its called prison rape. Its just not the government doing it, but the prisoners themselves doing it to each other. The way the US government build prison kind of encourage it.
