Pelvic floor disorders are conditions that can result when there's weakness or damage to the connective tissues and muscles that support the pelvis and the organs within the pelvis. Approximately 80% of women will experience a vaginal tear during childbirth which can lead to pelvic floor disorders. The most common pelvic floor disorders are bowl and bladder control issues or pelvic organ prolapse. Treatment consists of non-invasive pelvic floor treatments such as pelvic floor physical therapy that can help women restrengthen their pelvic floor after an injury from childbirth.
