In 2016, for the first time ever, more American women had babies in their early 30s than in their 20s. Giving birth at any age comes with changes — to your body and bank account. But there are some key differences between giving birth in each decade.

The best time to have kids is when you're mature enough not to treat them like a burden on your life.

I’m currently 33 and pregnant with my first babies (yes I’m having twins). For me, this is the perfect time. I got to enjoy my 20s, finish college, travel, and enjoy my marriage for 4 years. Now I can enjoy being a mommy and give my babies the attention they need. ❤️

Early 30s seems perfect, young enough to be youthful and old enough to go through a lot of life experiences. Of course I’m speaking for myself. Everyone sees life different

20s = body is right .
30s = money’s right .

I think giving birth later means that the parents are more mentally prepared to raise a kid plus they are financially stable and can take care of the expenses better. So they can raise happier and healthier kids

My parents told me weekly that a baby would ruin my life while I was growing up. (Normal don't have sex scare tactics) Now that I'm in my late 20s they're pressuring me into having one and I'm like... Naw, you said they would ruin my life. I think I'll just be selfish and enjoy free time ☺️

I'm having my first baby in 4 weeks and I'm 36. Never been healthier in my life than now, and my baby is perfect, no complications, never ever felt bad, I felt kinda sleepy the first month, and my hips hurt a bit now that he is head down, but that's about it, I've never had this energy or this kind of mental peace before in my life. I'm actually still going to work everyday and very active! Definitely the right choice for me to have my baby at this age! It's been a dreamy pregnancy and I'm very grateful! Don't be afraid to wait ladies

Having a baby in their 30's is not what caused those women to live longer; they were a different population. Individuals who tend to wait to have children tend to be more educated and have healthier habits, which leads to their living longer.

Having kids when parents aren't ready just leads to toxic homes filled with frustration with parents blaming each other.
That does more damage

My mom had me at 41. She’s now 73 and still moves around like she’s in her 20s.

My mom was 39 when she gave birth to me and 41 to my sister. My classmate before even thought that she was my grandma but who cares. She's the best mom🤷‍♀️❤️

I had kids in my early 20s and now I have a teenage who I can keep up with and enjoy many fun adventures with. My daughter is my size and height and we sometimes share shoes and clothes..it’s not that bad to have kids earlier. It’s about what works for you and your partner and the lifestyle you both created together and the many memories of getting there together!

I had my children in my 20s when I was young enough to enjoy them and energetic enough to run after them. Now I'm in my 50s and can still play with my grandchildren with no major illnesses and aches and pains. I'm still young enough to travel and live a fulfilling life. No soccer games, carpools and PTA meetings. I have complete mental, spiritual physical and emotional freedom. I'm happy that motherhood stage of my life is over.

I feel like the next generation is going to stop having kids altogether at this point 😂

30s? I see babies getting shot out of my highschool peers like NASA shuttles.

UPDATE: Its January 30 2021, I'm no longer in highschool, and there are still hundreds of NASA shuttle babies coming from my friends and peers.

I desperately wanted to give birth in my twenties but it did not happen for several reasons - I could not afford to support a child, my relationship did not work out, I was busy working developing career. Now in my early thirties with a steady 9-5 job making six figures, I feel much more secure about having a kid.

I'm 32 and pregnant with my first baby. It seems like the perfect time. We're settled in our careers, own an income property, traveled a bit, enjoyed our marriage for 2 years and this just seems like the natural next step.
