Jeep stalling issue. I bought the truck half a year ago and it would stall at random times. For example driving in the freeway speeds or at a red light and it wouldn’t turn on until lit cooled down. I can finally say I have fixed that issue now it’s time to enjoy the Jeep life.

My 97 Jeep Laredo idles fine until it dies but the great thing is that it turns on right away 100% of the time, I gotta give it gas to keep it from shutting down. Most of the time it stalls at a complete stop or at idling. One thing is I feel like it hiccups when I press on the gas like if gas isn't passing through. Another example if I'm going up hill I step on the gas and it doesn't accelerate quick then it feels like it sling shots you and then it accelerates full power. First time I got it scanned and it read a cam shaft sensor, which I replaced then the issue was still there then I got a crank shaft sensor error didn't switch that out because I was told it wasn't going to fix the issue. I tied zip ties to the ECM and that seemed like it worked but only for a few days. Now I get no error codes at all except for a failing thermostat that could be stuck in the open position.

I replaced my computer, not it. I replaced half that dam engine and the shut down problem is still there. Took it to the shop a dozen time over the last 8nyears and the problem is still there. It is as if my problem just cannot be cured no matter what.

Just saying but just wondering if you still going upload so more vids, if you still have it? Did it stall when you tried to press the gas slightly cause mine 5.2 orvis shut down leaving work, as in pulling out of he driveway, haven't done fuel pump filter yet, cause possibly they are clogged or would it be the ec, also was kinda low on oil, but nothing to serious though. I did do spark plugs, distributor and accessories plugs, I'm hoping it's just a fuel clogged, cause it did stays on afterthe 2 car shut offs (hopeing it just needed oil cause rear seal, added oil let it sit few min started it up and it stood on for 10m but as soon as I put it into gear and start pressing gas, shuts off again

Maybe you can help me out. I have a 99 XJ 4.0. Last week it started stalling out on my way home from work. For a year of so now, my downstream O2 sensor is bad. So I wanted to take it to autozone to use the OBD2 and see what codes it has. On the way there it stalled out many times. So the check engine light went off. When i got to Autozone it pulled a P1694 code for the PCM. They told me that the cat could be clogged and to check that out. So when i was waiting for my appointment at mineke i did some looking online and some sites said that the CPS could be bad and sometimes throws a code for the pcm. I get to minike, they tell me no way the cat ia clogged, and to check my ground wires. So this morning i took the cables off the batter and cleaned them up. The jeep barely made it around the block. When i took my girls car to autozone to try n get more info, they told me to check the fuel pump relay and the air sensor on the intake. Does anyone have a suggestion on what this can be?

Where did you get the pcm from. my 1997 zj limited has the same problem of stalling. from my Diagnostics I suspect my pcm might be my problem.

My 98 jeep Cherokee Laredo has the same problem stalling out then it’ll kick back in and drive good for a while. Never had a problem on the highway but in town idling at a light it would die. My grandson who is a mechanic cleaned all the battery wires the all the connections thinking that would help but it didn’t and after that the battery went dead. Then I broke my leg on Thanksgiving so I couldn’t drive it anyway so I got a new battery for it now and then and my grandson’s gonna see if he can figure out why it keeps dying so that was my question. Thought it might be a module or a sensor or the filters but the filters are in the gas tank so he was gonna take it off and drain it clean it out and put in new filters but we haven’t got to that yet
