How China’s Airlines Are Beating Rivals to Dominate Major Routes

China's largest airlines have brushed past their competitors to seize the lion’s share of air traffic in the world’s second-biggest economy. Foreign carriers are now finding it harder to make a profit in a market estimated to be worth some $27 billion. Bloomberg's Danny Lee explains.

No Chinese airlines did not lower prices, it, s European airlines who have raised their prices because their aircraft need to fly around Russian airspace costing more in fuel and time.

Of course they totally ignore the fact that Chinese airlines are able to lower prices because they are able to use the Russian airspace which significantly cuts time and fuel to get to Europe and vice versa. 😅

Mainly because of the closure of Russian airspace, Chinese airlines can cross Russian airspace unlike European airlines. European airlines are more expensive because they need to go around, for example, Dubai, and Asia-Pacific routes continue to lose money.

It doesn't help that the EU decided that it was a brilliant idea to close their airspace to Russia...the hubris blinded them from realizing that their airlines needed to traverse Russia to get to Asia 😆

THe Chinese lower fares do not distort the marketplace! they are just competitive fares. We pay more now on CHinese airlines than before covid. 20-30% more. but on the whole and especially this year, European and US airlines are charging ridiculous fares. why would I pay EUR1600 to fly with Air France or Lfthansa if I can fly faster (and service is similar) on any Chinese airline for about EUR1000? and we used to pay EUR500-700 in past....
and just now trying to book a flight from Brussels to France. Ryan air is wrong time but some flight are at EUR15! the "big boys" at between EUR200-500.... ridiculous

The blame should be changed from Chinese airlines to large foreign airlines. Foreign airlines are distorting the market by charging unreasonably high prices. Chinese airlines are helping the market to return to its norm.

Distort the market how?
Us, Europe Closed air space, Russia (bigger than both areas wise) reciprocated, and now we have the results, playing stupid games and winning stupid prizes.

So now Western carries have to increase prices to factor in longer routes, and it is interpreted as competitors lowering prices, even if the do to attract mkt share this is just basic capitalism.

Fix 2 conflicts and the rest of issues will resolve themselves, otherwise massive decoupling with pain for all.
