How to resize a YouTube thumbnail – “larger than 2mb” error

The complete fix for the "thumbnail is bigger than 2mb" error on YouTube. In this video I'll show how to resize youtube thumbnail.

I'm going to use a free youtube thumbnail 2mb converter called Gimp.

The proper image size for a YouTube thumbnail is 1920x1080.
You upload youtube thumbnails in 3 formats: JPG, GIF or PNG.
• GIF - is not an option because it has too little colors.
• PNG - gives the best quality, but it quickly exceeds the limit of 2MB
• JPG - is the way to go, because it can compress the thumbnails enough to say within the limit of 2 mb.

For Mac users:
.The mac version of gimp uses the default mac UI, making the menus look like they are not a part of the program itself. You should be able to find the same things there as suggested here as long as you have the program selected and on fullscreen.
.On mac the program allows you to manually write the name of your file format

Good vid, also for Mac you can Right click on the image you want to use and navigate to "Quick Action" then "Convert Image" and Change the size there.
