I have a 2018 V8 Tundra with 20K miles on it, went to get an oil change last week, and they were begging me to trade it in on the twin turbo. I love the power of a v8 and after seeing this, I will keep it till I die.

I bought a 2020 tundra with the 5.7. I didn't want anything to do with the twin turbo v6. This just proves I made a good choice.

What's even funnier is that the fuel range is only marginally better with the V6 twin turbo hybrid. They sacrificed the bullet proof V8 5.7 liter for like 1 mpg 😂

I just now went out into my driveway and hugged my 2018 V-8 Tundra. 😎

Not just engine problems. They have fit and finish issues. Build quality is sub par. I am sticking with my old Toyota's

Metal shavings for over 100, 000 engines?

Bull! It’s a design flaw. Admit it Toyota.

We have 2 from our Fleet that are getting engines, a 22 and a 23. The 2023 left one of my guys stranded. Dealership has no idea what to do yet.

I went to buy a new tundra a month ago. Didn’t know they took out the V8s. Toyota Dealership was like these v6 turbos are better. I spent 3 hours at the dealership reading tundra threads & articles. Later that day I left with a 21 sr5 tss with 20k miles already had a 3 inch lift & 35s on it. Each day I’m more thankful for all these videos and threads. Especially since I pull my RV and trailer.

You know it is a severe problem when people are returning their tundras with a blown engine at 7, 000, miles!!

It's a race to the bottom. These companies are producing anything they can before shtf.

My father has a 2022 Tundra SR5 TRD Sport 4x4. He drives it a lot, and has racked up over 90, 000 miles since he purchased it. He has had no issues with the engine at all. (Even it being the first next-gen tundra at the dealership he got it from). He did recently have a pin-hole fuel leak somewhere near the tank in a fuel line. It didn't cost him anything as it was already recalled. but he didn't get a notification for it for some unknown reason. Besides that, he has had no issues with it. He has a 2-inch level kit in the front and even upgraded the tire size. Still no issues.

Same thing is happening with the new Lexus GX550 as well. They have stopped deliveries, claiming it's a QC problem with the sunroof. The sunroof does have issues, but that's not why their halting deliveries.

Ford: No one can build crappier engines than us!
Toyota: Hold my saki.

To be accurate if we are going to criticize Toyota, this problem with metal shavings is happening in US Tundra's and Sequoias as well as Lexus, which are built in Japan, and as far as I can tell, with essentially the same motor but cast and built in Japan. If that is true, then this process control failure is occurring at more than one engine plant.

I'd buy this new Tundra with the good ol' V8 in a heart beat. This V6 Turbo disgrace? Hard pass.

I bought a 2024 Tundra not knowing about the problems. I got my oil changed at 500 miles and got another change at 2500 miles. We have not found any debris in the oil.

What we did find is that there is a big gas smell in the oil.

Toyota may think that there is debris in the motor causing the problem.

We suspect that it’s really bearing wash caused by gas getting into the motor oil.

I am going to keep up the frequent oil changes.
