Toyota PICKUP Truck - The Science EXPLAINED

Показать описание

The Toyota Pickup will go down in history as one of the toughest trucks ever built. And not because it has loads of modern day technology that keeps it rolling down the road, but because it’s one of the most simple, no frills, utilitarian work horses ever to hit the dirt, pavement, sand, mud, rocks...literally ANY terrain in its path. It’s survived being strapped to the top of an exploding building! And that was AFTER it was hit with a wrecking ball, lit it on fire and had the ocean swallow it whole. In today's B2B we are going to look at what makes the nameless Toyota truck such a beast, starting with it’s boxed frame and then we’re gonna look at the infamous 22RE engine!

Some of our best videos ever are coming out soon, stay tuned so you won't miss a thing!

My Toyota has a 5 speed manual. When I bought it, no one was aware that the drain plug for the transmission was not tightened properly at all. It wasn't until during a round trip from Portland to Seattle that I realized I had been driving without transmission fluid for over a year! I tightened the plug, topped it off, and another year later it's running great!

My 1991 had 270k miles before the trans finally went out. Still drivable, I just lost 4th and eventually 3rd, never left me stranded though. I found an old 5 speed on craigslist for $50, I show up and it's buried in the guy's backyard hallway in mud. We settled on $25, cleaned it up, still runs to this day with almost 450k miles. All original except for that $25 transmission replacement 😂

man imagine a vehicle today made durable, easy to work on or would even last more than 5 years before needing ridiculously expensive/serious repairs/maintenance

This video came WELL before the WD Hilux torture testing, but I have to say that WDs testing only backed up the fact that the Hilux is almost impossible to kill in any and all aspects.

Dad had a 78 2wd. Had over 500k, was t boned (and repaired), stolen twice (nearly stripped once), and towed our camping trailer (basic box trailer) over dirt roads that some 4 wheelers couldn't handle. Also, it's what I learned to drive in.

When watching Back to the Future, the real star for me was always Marty McFly's black Toyota Pickup. Total legend.

I just got a 2024 Tacoma and had to go outside running to check the frame. Good to know I'm covered for many many years.
Great old video!

In machines, toyota trucks are the embodiment of "you either die as a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain'' 😂

I happen to have an '87 2wd, 1.8 gasoline if not mistaken, with almost 300k kms and it is not really being driven the past 15 years because of fuel consumption and the fact that it is not needed to carry anything. This tank of a pickup hasn't rusted one bit, if you exclude some rust in the cabin frame, i don't even remember the last time the engine, transmission and diff oil was changed, and still, when needed in the field, the fucker will start up with who knows how old gas in the tank, be loaded with atleast 1.5 tons of stuff and cruise with speeds of up to 80 kms/h with ease. The thing just does not want to die, but to be fair it is not abused or neglected in any extreme way. Toyota engineering at its finest.

mann, I just hate it that there are no more cars being build with the intension of lasting as long as possible. If there was a car manufacturer who did this, I would buy it instantly.
