''Changing the world starts in the toilet'': That is the motto of French start-up Toopi Organics, which specialises in the collection and recycling of human urine. Since 2019, it has been collecting urine at festivals, motorway service stations and theme parks and transforming it into biofertiliser, providing farmers with an ecological alternative to chemical fertilisers. FRANCE 24 visited a collection site as well as a production site where the raw human urine is processed and turned into a product its creators hope could revolutionise agriculture.

Unless I missed it, not seeing what they are doing about medications in the urine. That's a big concern to me as it affects the biosphere.

This technique should have been put to use from quite a long time ago.

Easy money.

Medicated people's urine is quite troublesome to the human veggies and crops.

Why?? isn’t Europe like trying to ban farming for climate reasons?

This makes a lot more sense than discharging human waste into rivers, where it acts as a poisonous fertiliser, killing fish by using up the oxygen by feeding algae blooms. At the same time vast amounts of energy is used to manufacture the same compounds from inorganic sources.
Far better to extract the plant feeding elements, Nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from the human waste we throw away.

The EU are forcing all farmers both in the UK and EU to go semi organic, they ban 2 chemicals per year every year.

The problem is without these chemicals, you can't farm as most weeds do not die using organic or semi organic methods, it's genetically impossible.

This is why a lot of produce eventually will be imported from countries going forward into the EU and UK that allow the chemicals that are banned to carry on being used.

It's a no win situation, and is already putting a lot of farmers out of business or making land worthless despite subsidies, they don't cover the losses due to the bans of these chemicals which then force farmers to give up land or switch to another crop.

This in turn will make food more expensive in the long run.

This information is coming from farmers I have talked to in the UK in person face to face and this was in 2019, so things are probably a lot worse now in 2023 than then being 4 years on.
