I lived with a dry loo system-all diy and recycled- for about 2 years. Mine was in the house due to a problem with our old loo. It's very easy, apart from having to carry heavy buckets across the garden. The compost is, as you say, fabulous and smells just like a forest. My system wasn't nearly as complete as yours but maybe I'll start again in my new home. Thank you

There is an oldfashioned, unused outhouse in our yard. You gave me a great idea of what to do with it :) I’ve never thought about using humanure compost for hedge plants before. So far, the most unsettling part of utilizing humanure for me has been that many people apply it to vegetable gardens, and I couldn’t get comfortable with that idea. But using it to grow biomass sounds like a brilliant idea!

I like to nutrient cycle my urine by adding it to my compost.
I regret every drop wasted down a flush toilet!

This is a beautiful system. Simple and very doable. I love the idea of the hose that takes the fluids to a stream for separation. I would use humanmanure on vegetables if seasoned for two years. I think there is too much unnecessary ado about pathogens and we are missing out on the great nutrients that humanmanure can supply. Kudos for a great design!

Can you please give a more detailed explanation of how the Reed Bed where the Urine goes is structured. For example; how large an area. How deep the stones etc. How far away from the toilet building etc. ☺️
