Usually it takes a minimum of 15 years to grow the first fruit. So if anyone wanns grow some avocado, you’ll have to wait a while.

A good idea is to put the seed in a cup of water the pointy tip on top and flat Part in the bottom and leave it there for 4 weeks, keep changing the water after a quite and when the stem grow 6 jnches long cut it back to 3 and when it grows again, put in soil, it will grow faster!

So for anyone who wants to grow avocados, they are not “true to seed” which means that you don’t get the exact same type of avocado as you planted, and a 1 in 10, 000 chance of getting one that tastes good. What you should do at this point is graft a branch from an avocado tree that does produce the type of avocado you want onto the stalk of the 6-8 month old home grown avocado tree.
It’s the same thing with apples, people plant a Granny Smith apple seed and end up with “crab apple” tree in their yard that everyone questions why (apples have a 1 in 80, 000 chance of produce a good tasting fruit)

I have an avocado tree grown from a seed - is outside right now, but in the winter I bring it inside! - So far it’s gonna take probably until I’m extremely old if Everett bears any fruit. But I still love it.

Even my mom threw 3 avocado seeds near the countryside and before September she saw that they had already put the sprout 🌱
I’m curing my avocados with water and I usually change it every 3/4 days and both avocados have split to form the root that then when I put it in a jar I’ll put them in the ground

Your 8month avocado looks like my 4 month avocado. Try germinating first then plant I think it does a big difference

Hi! Where should I put my plants? Directly on the sun? Or just indirect light? Thanks!

Avocados are not "true to seed" plants, meaning that the resulting tree from an avocado seed will not produce the same type of avocado as the parent plant. This is because avocados are heterozygotic, meaning their seeds have a high amount of genetic variety. Pollination and DNA also create a unique tree from every avocado seed.

There is also another way to grow avo trees
So u need an avo seed then u need to put it in water for 30 minutes to an 1hr take it out peal the brown layer and grab a wet paper towel and wrap the seed in the paper towel then put it in an isolated place like a zip lock bag or a container wait about 2-3 weeks open and check on it and if u have roots coming out of it put the roots in some water for 1 day then put it in a pot roots first and keep watering it btw it will take aou 10-15 years to grow a fruit on it I hope that help😊😊

If your way to lazy to wait 3 month do not just plant it straight is soil instead you gotta soak it in a bowl of water for 30-60 minutes then once done peel of the outer layer once done wet a paper towel and then get the avacado pit and paper towel and roll the paper towel in the avacado pit and put it somewhere dark or you can just soak it for 30-60 min peel of the outer layer and grab 3 toothpick then place em around the pit and get a cup then fill it with filtered water only place the pit hovering the water and it grows way faster

For all the myths in the chat:
1: You CAN grow an avocado tree in the winter, some (if not all) are frost tolerant and will bounce back in the summer
2. Starting off the avocado seed in water is NOT a proper way of germinating the seed and once you transplant into soil it will shock, a better way is to germinate the seed directly in the soil.
2. The seed will be a unique one, which is a GOOD thing, each avocado is your own variation, and can be named by YOU.
3. There’s not a 1 in a millionth chance, or 1 in 1000 chance or 1 in 10 millionth chance that you will get a good tasting avocado, this is FALSE. I have no idea where this statistic was brought up, but if your avocados are tasting bitter, first fruit production is known to not be the best harvest, (most growers end up picking the flowers and letting the avocado tree form foliage before bearing fruit, leaving it till the second year)

I hope this helps! I’ve grown and researched avocado trees for a bit now!

That's the hard way you see put toothpicks in the seed and wait 3 weeks
