My mum did a good job of making my siblings and i develop a rich vocab. She made us read books and newspaper articles, pick out new words, learn the meaning, and use it in making sentences. I'm so used to it that i unconsciously do it till today. Can't have a phone without a merriam-webster dictionary installed😂😂😂. Bless her heart

Excellent Job Winnie, reading is a gateway to abundance. 1 read 15 BOOKS every year excluding my bible, articles, and other related career books. The power of reading can never be overemphasized.

Thank you Winnie for this episode.

Recently, while reading, I came across the word "teetotaler" - used to refer to one who totally abstains from alcohol.

It could be used in a sentence like this: "Andrew had a reputation as a disciplined, no-nonsense, non-smoking and nonphilandering teetotaler."

I'm elated to add this to my word bank💃.

I read 62 books in 2019, 57 in 2020, and curerntly i m reading my 9th book for the year.
Responsibilities happened and i had to be more intentional about reading more books.
I want to go back to my habit in 2019 when i read one book per week.
Reading is fun and i m.addicted to it

I am Journalist, yet I still make a lot of mistakes when speaking. Now, am studying Social service worker and it's really making me read more, plus wanting to improve on my vocabularies. I am on top of the world watching this.

Just come across your YouTube discussion. I grew up reading the dictionary. So I developed a wide vocabulary. I love reading different books including my Bible. Thank you and bless you.

Wow!.... I've just been swept off my feet. This is a channel to be glued unto instead of wasting ones idle time on things less productive or profitable. Feeling sad that I'm just seeing this channel for the first time: actually stumbled unto this while searching for video clips on how to increase reading speed.

Frankly, I learnt a lot within few minutes that I spent here especially the pronunciation of STIPEND. I couldn't help but jump off my bed with excitement. Your channel is quite educative and I wish more youths, especially our undergraduates, can access this. Before I got to the end of this first episode, I've started sharing the link with my wife and others. It's quite a channel - a unique one at that.

Gosh! Where have i been?

The idiom tips nailed it...sometimes when I'm having a conversation I love using idiomatic expressions, like 'water under bridge'. 🐱 It gives the conversation flavour.

As a Jamaican, who lives in the US, I wish all Jamaicans see and learn from this video. Unfortunately, social media is influencing some people in negative ways. I have copious examples of some black folks who copy non-standard English used by folks in the entertainment and sports arenas.

This was awesome🤗
Incorrigible means when some is incapable of change or when someone can never be corrected or take corrections

It's a pleasure sharing this vocabulary with y'all😍

I need to add this though.
Listening to you guys helped me realize something that for a long time I was wondering.
English is not my first language.
I am learning it.
I was born in DR Congo, and at school we spoke French (up until today); I have always loved words.
From primary school through finishing high school my favorite classes were dictation, spelling, vocabulary, conjugation, reading, grammar, and even today years later I love words.
However, when it was time to pick a major at university, I picked a topic related to finance because it hadn't clicked in my mind that words mattered.
That I could make something with the fact that I was good at spelling, dictation or vocabulary and earn a living.
I wondered if people in the real world cared if someone could spell right or wrong.
I almost that being good with words was useless. And the truth is after I graduate from university, I almost lost my interest with words.
But thanks to you guys, I can see how powerful words can be and what they can do for you when you know how to use them.
If I could go back to the past, I would pick a different major, but that is impossible. What is possible, however, is I can get back to loving words again.
I know better now.
You have given me back the motivation to improve and to do something with this skill I have.
I consider that I am pretty good with words, but I also know I have a lot to learn and practice.
As a full time, stay-at-home mom, I have sometime a lot of free time, so I decided to write a Christian-based blog.
It is 8 days old so far.
I love writing and this is my way to practice and expand my vocabulary.
Your video really cheered me up.
To finish, maybe I didn't use appropriate words somewhere there, just know I am an English learner.

Bye

Hello. My name is Betty Ann and I have just stumbled on your video for the first time. I am a stickler for proper pronunciation, intonation and diction . Vocabulary does play a vital role in becoming socially viable and intellectual. As a teacher and a minister in church communicating constantly is relevant, therefore I am ready to forget the nonsense I know and sitting at your feet to learn.
