It was out forward that a calculation revealed the object would collide with the
earth in 2028 - and that daily life and routines should continue as normal -
so as not to frighten the people and cause panic.

in more recent times - tests were conducted by detonating explosives on comets -
in an effort to determine how much force would be required to break a comet into
smaller size - with the prospect that the smaller fragments would mostly burn and
destroy themself on entry into the atmosphere -- smaller fragments causing lower
levels of damage and loss of life.
I would suppose the GOVERNMENTS -- will become GIVERNMENTS and give out
free dope to avyone who wishes to SMOKE ONE BEFORE THEY GO.

I don't know what will be done for the people who don't smoke or partake in
consuming alcohol or engage with whores.
What kind of happy ending will they have ?
