SOOOO glad you made this one! I hear "edges" in like every video! I'm dumb I have no idea what that meant until now.

Hang on, sis... you mean this whole time when people are encouraging us newbies to apply pressure on "inner/outer edges", they're referring to the actual wheels?! I misunderstood this, because many haven't added in that minor, but major detail... I thought edges were in relation to applying pressure on the edges of the skates blades or the actual boot within the inside edges of the feet. I also overthink. lol But this video is game changing. Thanks for the meticulous explanations, because I get very discouraged easily sometimes. It takes me a little longer for things to come together.

I answered that question like I was taking a test. Back outer edge 😂 Thank you Dasia.

I got a bit confused by this video and would love to know where this diagram and information came from. my understanding was that if you're leaning your weight onto your little toe to turn, you're on your outside edge, and if you're leaning your weight on your big toe to turn, you're on your inside edge. the diagram you shared suggests you're on an outside edge (on the outer curve of your wheel) whichever side of your foot you're putting your weight into. but this contradicts with the drills where you demonstrated inside edges...

apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick but I'm trying to understand edges and now just feel extra confused! maybe someone can help me?

Your graphic describing edges isn't accurate, but it's understandable where the confusion comes from. The language of "edges" is a remnant from ice skating, where the blade literally has two edges. When we talk about edges on roller skates, they're really virtual edges. Your inside edge is when you place your weight, pressure, and strength on the inside of the skate which causes the trucks to pivot and make a radius which curves inward. Your outside edge is when you place your weight, pressure, and strength on the outside of the skate which causes the trucks to pivot and make a radius which curves outward. Edges has nothing to do with the physical inside or outside edge of the wheels.

Hey Dasia! I am scrolling your videos to see if you have anything on knee injuries and what you did or used to help the process if you’ve ever had a knee injury. I recently fell and bounced on my knee twice in the street and it’s going to be some time before it heals. I had the biggest bruise of my life and it feels like internal bruising/scraping as well. Not quite orthopedic doctor visit but damn near. It’s been 2 weeks and I literally feel like I’m lost without my skates lol 🥹 I miss my wheels.
