One of the LONGEST ranges of any electric car on sale, and the COOLEST name (probably). But does the hotly anticipated Ford Mustang Mach-E deliver the supreme buy-it-now electric SUV package you'd hope for? Or, are rivals like the Audi E-tron and BMW iX3 still better options?

Cheapest E-tron is 70k and the one with the same range is about 80 so not really competitor to Mach E

AWD and bigger battery is £57k on Ford's website with 335 miles range.
Cheapest Audi e-Tron is £61.5k and has 249 mile range.
Cheapest BMW 1X3 is £62k and has 285 mile range.
I'm sorry but I don't see how you can credibly compare the three cars - unless you're only interested in the badge.

I would actually argue that the volume adjustment is very important. If I had to have just one dial it would be the volume

Here in the States we get a $7500 credit for it.

The volume dial is brilliant. BYD uses a rotating screen which would have been perfect for this. Love the car interior, I am shortlisting it.

I've just sat in one at a roadshow in Cambridge. Internally, it felt excellent. It's not an i-pace (which I like better) but Extended Range comes in at a significantly lower price. If I had the money for an AWD ER I'd push myself for an i-pace but I don't - so I think this is the best compromise (and anyway has a better range). The door handles wouldn't be my choice but I'm sure I could get used to them. Glad you had an Infinite Blue - which I have not yet seen in person. I'm very tempted.

Why does he constantly only compare the Mach E to the Jaguar, BMW, and Audi when it's most direct competitor is the Model Y which it does a terrific job matching/approaching specs and pricing with? Probably the only person with a negative review of this car I've seen. It looks like a terrific EV.

and as i realized over the years, WLTP x 0.85= real range, specially in the winters i calculate 0.8.

So, you make several references to the BMW iX3 regarding right quality. But i can‘t find a testdrive of the BMW in your account!?
Is it just the general perception of US cars in europe. The US and candian Testers are more lucky with the MMEs ridequality.

Slightly biased review ain't it
So you're comparing electric cars by its price... when the biggest cost is the electrical group+Batteries.
So it isn't as fancy/plush as the Bimmer or the Audi... but it lasts twice at the same cost
So try the opposite. Put the same electrical system+batteries on the BMW or the Audi and compare its costs! audi/BM became how much? 80K? 90K? 100K?
Why didn't you compare it with the real competitor... Tesla model X (or Y if you wan't to keep it biased)
P.S. - I'm a Bimmer fan and owner

Cheaper version is where the money is on this one (40K). If you don't need SUV get the Model 3 SR+, if you need an SUV get this.

You didn't mention that the rear doors open slightly to wedge your hand in when opening, HOWEVER; Ford designed them so that once they've opened them slightly, you can't close them unless you open the door fully. This is to prevent having your hand crushed while reaching in to open the door. I just bought this car and it is incredible!!! The build quality alone makes the tesla look like a moving toilet. With regards to the plushness of the interior, go ahead and enjoy the BMW and Audi... I'll wave as I pass by.

The 379 mile range is only available on the 2WD extended range models, which cost from £47k for a low spec and slow performance model 🤔🤯

Still can't get over the fact that cars cost 40-50k new and the interior quality is that dreadful. It's not on.

Every comment is prefaced with a negative, biased in almost every single feature you point out to highlight. Reviewers are always the same with Ford's, then Ford will go out sell every other car in the same segment

I don't know why you avoided mentioning the Model Y. Seeing as this is almost identical in price and size with similar performance. IMO the Mach-e wins on looks, meets the specs of the Y on performance specs (although bigger battery for less range is not ideal), and loses on tech/infotainment. Based on my use case I'd put Ford slightly higher on my list than the Tesla but it really is very close.

Could’ve done without the poop smudged on the door sill

This must be the very only journalist who doesn't like this car...

He doesn't know that the inner rubber for opening the door is for, Ford has clearly indicated that with their studies, they found that people open the car always by grabbinng the inner, and it helps children and all heights to open and close.
