Having a glass roof is actually really bad for efficiency. Because in winter, the heat inside the cabin would be leaked to outside very easily. Glass is NOT a good insulation material. So the less glass (roof or windows) in the car, the better it is for heat insulation in winter, or cold insulation in summer when the car has AC on.

I was really surprised to hear the Mach-E does not have a heat pump. It would seem it would only be practical as a short commute vehicle in the winter. What EVs would you you recommend in the same category instead? Model Y? Polstar 2? Kia EV6?

We both Select wit eAWD and extended battery, we didn’t get premium because of sun roof and the fact that we live in Rockies belt (Calgary and when we road trip to Banff it would be additional point of failure 😞

I don't know what part of the lower 48 you guys are, but the resistive heater is better than a heat pump when temperatures really go below freezing. Ford made the right choice for heating performance. The heat pump won't warm your cabin as well in the cold.

As a professional engineer, give me and my kids the heat in the winter. Heat pumps on our house need backup from oil heat when its 15 under. The scaled down heat pump to fit in a car will suffer even worse.

Turns out they are getting a heat pump standard for the 2025 after this video came out.

The 2025 models come with a heat pump!! That being said he pumps suck when it's freezing temps outside anyways. Even Teslas switch over to a resistor style heater when its freezing.

I have 2024 Mach E premium and with 2030 miles my Mach E broke, at the dealer now and they haven't figured out what is wrong with it
