This is what I needed. Today I had by far my worst red day since I started trading with real money. Gave back all my profits to date and its really messing with my head. The problem is the 5k loss. At this period of time obviously you need to downgrade that to 2k. When the market recovers then lift it up

Thank you Ross for your generosity and candor in sharing these lessons and errors. Most of the mistakes we can make in trading have the very same root: Deviation from your pre-set plan and risk management system.

Markets are made to punish emotion and irrational decision making. There are spaces in life to be irrational, but charts aren't one. If we're not following our risk management system the only other thing we can do is get irrational (greedy and/or fearful), get careless, make mistakes and repeat the downward spiral.

The only way to stop is to make a clean break from the past and get back onto the risk management system.

Also, the way I see this and keep reminding myself is that every day is like day 1 for me. I don’t hope, I don’t get greedy, I just take profit, cut losses when things get out of control and just reset and restart

Maybe it was the insulation fumes, lol. It has to be a distraction working in different environments; floor, office, kids. You are a rock star and a great mentor. I am fairly new to all this, and even I recognized there was very little to trade last week.
