You didn’t mention that the 4 new engines are as powerful as 5 of the older previous engines on the earlier C-130. In addition it has 6 more advanced propellers. A comparison between the performance of the 2 aircraft would have been nice to present to your viewing audience as well. Examples like speed, altitude, distance of range improvements and more. I’m glad they still use the 105 millimeter gun and the 40 millimeter Bofors gun In addition to the chain gun. The additional bombs and missiles are a good additional weapons platform too. More advanced electronic countermeasures and infrared sensors are an excellent addition as well.

More details on the above capabilities should also have been provided to your viewers in the future please. I’ve always been a fan of the C-130 variants of this multiple series of aircraft that has been in continuous production since its inception as well.

The Air Force still uses 3 air-frames that have been around what seems like forever like B-52, C-130, & A-10. Amazing engineers with slide-rulers.

Ghostrider…great name. I want to know who comes up with these, tomahawk, javelin, stinger, switchblade, raptor, nighthawk, reaper, predator, mustang, falcon etc. US is on point with weapon naming. The Swedes need to step it up, I’m looking at u, Carl Gustav.

Good to see MORE counter measure equipment being placed on board the new model. The AC-130, at least in Vietnam, was vulnerable to very simple, shoulder launched, heat seeking missiles. And it was also MORE vulnerable to larger, ground controlled, SAM missiles. I HOPE the new model is able to counter those threats.

I’m amazed that I couldn’t edit my typo in my first comment like in most other video presentations, so I added a comment to my post to clarify my mistake regarding the amount of propellers from 6 to 4 for each engine. In addition the older C-130 variants had 4 bladed propellers and the newer version have 6 more advanced propellers In addition to far more powerful engines. The newer engines put out as much thrust as 4 of the older models had.

More than an A-10 or an AH-64, this is what I want circling overhead if I'm on the ground facing enemy infantry and armor. The accuracy, volume, and destructive firepower they can unleash is simply incredible.

Why is the AF so hell bent on getting rid of the A10 on the basis of it being slow and easy to target but then invest in 37 new 130 gunships which are even slower and more vulnerable?

Consider that the AF gets 37 of these for the cost of TWO stealth Fighters. Personally, I think they'll get a lot more mileage from the Ghostriders.

The J model uses a 30MM chain gun and the 105 mm Howitzer. No 40 MM, no 20 or25mm mini guns. They do however have the capalbility to fire the Hellefire, drop SDB and fire the griffin missile.
The picture you post is one of the older AC 130's probably a H model with twin rotary cannons.

Love the AC 130, It's a great aircraft that can be around for years to come, it's proof, like the B 52 that with modern technology can be improved, . 🇺🇸
