I've always known those connectors as "TRS sockets / jacks"
TRS = Tip Ring Sleeve.
The four pole versions are TRRS = Tip Ring Ring Sleeve.

The plastic clips probably hold it together on the assembly line while putting in the screws. The manufacturer generally doesn't worry about disassembly.

Whenever I need a stable surface for a TV (mainly putting the Stand on), I just put it on the original box and the legs can hang off the side.

The polystyrene inside usually provides a decent amount of support.

Just cut one end off an extension cable and solder that to the board... some cable ties or just a knot for strain relief and everything will be fine :-)

I had a very similar problem with a TV while living in the Bahamas. Expansion and contraction of the circuit board caused one side of the audio jack to go open circuit. Great video!

Ahh the soundbar doesn't have one... this explains a lot.

Those clips are engineered for easy assembly...not disassembly. It's kind of like when woodworkers nail and glue...the nail holds everything in place until the glue can set...but ultimately it is the glue that holds everything together. I'm sure the clips are meant in a similar way.

@eevblog I have solved a similar issue by using a little Bluetooth device that plugs into a standard 3.5mm stereo headphone jack and transmits the audio over Bluetooth. I then either use one of several bluetooth headphones I own or in cases I want to use a nice pair of wired headphones, I use another little device I found at a local "big box" store (surprisingly in the grocery side of the store on a random hanging display) that enables me to turn any wired headphones into wireless bluetooth with play/pause/ff/rewind controls.

I would suggest getting one (just search for "bluetooth headphone adapter") and avoid another tripping situation that might bring your TV off of its stand!

By the way, I also use the bluetooth receiver adapter with my wired headphone with several Amazon FireTV devices to watch movies without disturbing others. It easily pairs with the FireTV devices and shows up a regular bluetooth devices!
