The MSI B550 tomahawk board has been so beautiful and kind to me. Not an issue! Updating bios and fitting the 5800X3D. I am staying with these combo for a few more years because I am willing to bet if i decide to upgrade for some silly reason ill be cursed with issues!

The MSI B450 Tomahawk board in my previous 2019 AMD 3700X 32GB DDR4 build has been great over the years - no issues. I'm using an MSI B650 EDGE WIFI motherboard (one step-up from the Tomahawk) on my latest 2024 AMD R9 7900 64GB DDR5 build & no issues to report yet. I never was a fan of ASUS motherboards, so I stay away from them - though my current GPU is an ASUS TUF RX 7800 XT 16GB (my first AMD GPU), which has been perfectly fine for its intended 1440p gaming purposes.

People need to read reviews. ASrock X670e Steel Legend is totally fine board, good features and a good price.

x570 Aorus pro B550 both have been super stable. The B550 isnt superexpensive.

So, what is it that makes a more expensive board more stable? The power supply? The chip set is the same, right? Better PCB? Better layout?
Are cheaper boards as stable with less demanding components? (CPU, memory, etc.)

Being that I currently now have a Ryzen 7 5700X, I want to know what you think the best GPU would be to put alongside it? I currently have a GTX 1660 Ti. Its solid, but its starting to show its age because of how fast tech is moving. My first thought to upgrade to is the RX 7800 XT, but I want to hear what you have to say.

I’m on the fence with my motherboard for my new 4K 120hz build (7800x3d/4090). It was either the Msi x670e tomahawk or Aorus x670e master. I’m leaning towards the Aorus master now even though Msi tomahawks have been good to me in the past…

I have no stability problems after updating the Bios. I have 2 AMD Rigs. My wife and I only use them for gaming. Both have good case fans and airflow to keep them running cool.
- 1st RIG: ASUS ROG Strix B650E-F / Ryzen 7800x3D / CPU Cooler - Corsair iCue Link 115i AIO / 4080 Super FE / 32GB GSkill Trident 6000cl30 RAM/ MSI 1000W PCI-5 PSU / LG 4k 144hz Monitor.
- 2nd RIG: Gigabyte B650 Auros Elite AX / Ryzen7600 / CPU Cooler - Thermalright Peerless Assassin / 3080ti / 32GB Gskill Flare 6000cl36 RAM / Corsair RM1000w PSU / LG 1440p 144hz Monitor.
Both have been great! However, I only run 1 NVME SSD in each RIG. Maybe that is the difference is I don't have multiple drives, etc. Simple and minimal.
Love Tech Deals!

I might be making the platform upgrade to am5 either late this year/early next year.

I had trouble with a gigabyte and a MSI x670e mobos, just quit working after a while, no reason. They were only the $300 varieties.

Never spent 600$. 270-300$ is my limit for a AMD Motherboard. 3 for 3 no issues

I have an MSI b650-p pro wifi that just hard blackscreens around once a month. No idea how to get it stable. It locks up so hard the power button doesn't work.

The ASUS gamer tax is excessive. They hold back useful features that I doubt cost very much on boards that would otherwise be perfect. Such as the q code display. The pro art would be perfect for me, if it had gpu quick release and a q-code reader. Not a complete a deal breaker, but on a £460 board you would think it would have it. Originally I was considering a B650e e gaming, but quickly went off that idea after seeing the way it switches off things off in certain combinations. £520 for the x 670 e e gaming just seems too high though, I know it’s only £60 it’s just the principle lol. £400 just seems more a appropriate amount to spend on a board.

I still don't know what caused my first 7800x3d memory controller to fail. All I've ever been told is that it was running amd expo likely caused it. I don't even run expo anymore, I just run stock jedec speed at 4800
