I bought my WR250R brand new back in 2008. Back then, absolutely nothing had been done in the way of modifications to them. I swapped out the stock, rubber dampened rear sprocket for a WR250 Renthal sprocket, new DID X Ring chain. Swapped the stock Death Wings for Dunlop 606's. Got rid of the CA exhaust system, saved it, put it in a nice box. Replaced it with an FMF Header and silencer.. Swapped out the stock handlebars for a set of Pro Taper bars.
Doug Henry bend. New grips and levers. I did it all on my own...
There were no YouTube videos. I still have the bike. 28, 000 miles on it now. No valve adjustments necessary. I started off making it a street legal dirt bike. Raced a couple of Hare Scrambles with it. Did not finish last.. Then went more ADV. As it sits, it has a 3.5 gal Safari tank on it. Rack on the rear fender, side racks for Panniers. A tool bag on the front number plate. To and from California to Colorado and back to California.

I bought one new in 2015 and kept it until the end of 2020. I ended up upgrading to a 2020 CRF450L. Truth be told I loved the WR much more than the CRF and I ended up trading the 450L in after just 7 months. The WR250R is a legend of a bike.

Love the 250r. Had an 08 for over a decade. Got a 450f to replace it thought that was what I wanted, ended up getting another 250r. One of my fav bikes of all time. Ride hard put away wet, and hardly ever work on it.

Love my 2018 crf250l rally. Its heavy as hell around 340 pounds and only makes around 25 hp but literally will go anywhere. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the 250cc dual sports.

I'm 5'7" with long legs and I've got a 2014 WRR. The guy who had it before me was also 5'7" so it already had the Yamalink lowering link AND Seat Concepts low seat. Seat height with those two mods makes the bike very doable for us shorter riders. Such an excellent bike.

I’m going to be a new rider soon. I was going to buy a royal enfield meteor. But my brother said he was buying a dual sport. So he convinced me I need to buy one. I live in the desert so we have long streets, very little turns, but also open ranges I can jump into the desert and ride.
I know I’m gonna be a smart rider because I did search and rescue so I know how to read a map and how to avoid mines in the open desert. I have never been so excited to buy something.
Absolutely loving this channel!

As someone who dailys a CRF300L Rally and love it, I fully endorse the WR250R. Purchased two of them brand new and never regretted it.

I'm 6'3" and 260lbs for reference. .

I am a fast woods rider and have smoked vet riders on KTMs and Betas with the WRR.

It will be more capable than 90% of riders are.

yam... you nailed exactly why I got this bike! I love my WR. It's easy, no fussing with oil or valves, reliable as hell for colorado summer and winter and reasonably priced w/ good parts. great content \m/

A couple things missed in the comparison to DRZ 400 - the DRZ has more low end torque which can make it easier to ride off road in some situations. And one thing counting against the DRZ is that it has a much higher center of gravity than the WRR (engine sits higher), so that extra weight feels more drastic at very slow walking speeds and in loose sand.

Legendary, A guy who runs an adv tour company in Australia purchased a brand new one still in the crate when they announced it was discontinued, said he’s going to leave it in the box and make it into a bar.

My second bike is an XT250, (couldn't afford the WR) not fast, but agile reliable and lots of fun, great for logging roads, bush trails and will still do some hwy.

Been riding a WR250R for a few months now. I thought my gixxus750 was a squid bike. I thought my T7 was felonious. The WR250R is a motorcycle for VILLAINS. It's so small that you can treat the road like your own race track in your own lane. It's so flickable and slow that 55-60 on really tight back roads feels blistering. Not to mention it can go anywhere offroad. SO much fun.

Am still insanely in love with mine. Definitely at least worth giving a ride if a buddy has one and would be willing to let u ride.

Bought one. Learned to ride on it. Put a MT21 front/D606 back, ASV levers and 14/51 gearing on it. Ride it through desert, mountains, rivers, singletrack, sand/mud/snow/ice - no problem.

Couldn't be happier. Started my own YouTube channel (Temple of Dirt) dedicated to WR250R adventures.

After wanting a WR250R for years I finally picked one up last month. Easily the most fun bike I've owned to date.

Awesome review and couldn’t agree more. I’ve been dual sporting for years and just recently picked up a WR and I absolutely love the thing. Never disappoints.

Bought one as a cheap temporary return to street riding again bike. Fell in love with it. Good enough on the trail that I am selling my KTM200EXC. And surprisingly will do 400km+ day rides with no sore butt (I am however 6’3” and installed a tall version of the Seat Concepts seat). Compliments the DL1000A I got last fall perfectly and I don’t ever plan on getting rid of it. To get the most fun out of it... don’t be afraid to rev it like you hate it. And enjoy...

I am in love with my WR! You’re talking about one of the best bikes ever made for tall riders. It was my life long dream bike and I will never let it go! I literally kiss it when I walk by it in the garage, and every time I pull it out for a ride :)

I must thank you. Your video was one of the ones that was instrumental in my decision to get a WR. I probably got one of the last ones available anywhere in my area (Pennsylvania). Just did the paperwork on it today! Brand new 2020. Should be delivered next week or so. Your video was great, thank you!
